So this Airman comes into my office today askin' who drives the Cherokee in the parking lot. So we get to chattin', he used to have a '89 that was "all decked out". He is asking what parts and stuff I have on it, I start to tell him and he's getting all excited. Well he wants to tell me about this parts place.

"Get a pen man, you're gonna want to write this down. This place is called Rusty's Offroad, they have all of these amazing parts. You know your control arms? You know how the factory ones are those cheap stamped steel pieces? Well Rusty's has these ones that are just solid steel, they are so beefy, and all of his stuff is so cheap. It's great, you should look into some of his parts for your rig."

It took all of my enegry not to laugh my ass off and then bitch slap this kid. Rusty wishes he could sell the parts I have on my rig at his prices, oh yeah, and then make up for the difference in shipping..................

Should have told him you'd rather rock the IFS than run RUSTYS crap on your Jeep. I had a guy in my shop here talking about his rig after he saw mine sitting on the side. He came back in about 4 different times asking me questions about this and that. I didn’t mind he was a young kid and all. He asked about rustys and I told him about the charging before shipping and then it not shipping forever and fake UPS tracking #s and all his normal BS he pulls on people. Well I don’t see the kid for months then he comes in asking about some pipe to sleeve over his control arms because they were bending? I thought he still had stock NOPE he got rustys and had welding crack issues on the long arms end links axle side and then what looked like cracking in the powder coating about bid way on one side so he took a wire wheel knocked off the coating and look at that it was cracked and bending. Be it this kid could have rocked the crap out of the jeep because it was a beater but come on. I asked if he called them about it and got the same old run around.

LOL - good story DJ. :laugh2:

Yeah, you can't save 'em all. I suppose that guy never did any real wheeling anyway....... otherwise, he'd know the truth.

the way i see it is everyone has a preference...i have a R.E. on mine at the moment but one day i will do my own or possibly get something better...the R.E. is a good one and the rustys we had on my uncles white xj was fine...its the one that has the pro rok 60s on it so i wish i had that one:looney:

There is an XJ runnin' around somewhere with Pro Rock 60s and a Rusty's Suspension System? Thats a freakin' oxy moron right there. Listen, we don't bag on Rusty's for fun. It's all experience with parts we have run, or our friends have run, or members have run. Simply put, Rusty's is on the very bottom of the list when it comes to quality parts. Rusty's may work for some people, but the multitude of parts out there that are better than his are the bulk of the parts available for our rigs.

Yeah, that adjustable trackbar and those front springs which I got from Rusty 10 years ago and still run with no problems are real pieces of crap. That Tera-locker I had in the front, on the other hand, was really well built. I seem to remember people having to replace heims on RE trackbars fairly frequently back in the day.

No company owns the market on producing piss poor parts.

Fred

on that xj is it white and did they just buy it not to long ago from a guy in florida...also i know everyone has experiences with certain equipment not sayin that rustys is the best...just sayin it what the person either likes or can afford...loike i said i have an R.E. 4.5 inch but wanna get higher and things but first i need to do some work with my axles

I didn't say no one else makes piss poor parts. There is just no one else that does it with as much consistency and enthusiasm as Rusty's...........:D

Oh, and the difference between having to replace the R.E. heims all the time back in the day, and Rusty's products from then until now, R.E. fixed the problem..............;)

....... That and the fact that you can and will receive replacement parts when promised, and in reasonable time from just about every other vendor except Rusty's......... I don't know how that guy stays in business.

Hmm....Ive got Rusty's coils and leafs, seem to be doing fine. Would I buy them again? Prob. not cause there is better stuff on the market. Have they served the purpose, and held up? Yes.
And yes when I first purchased the coils one did sag prematurly, but I was sent a new one second day air, no charge.

About 1 in 20 get the service you did Justin, just got lucky.

Interesting, the on and off experience you folks have had.

I just put some 4.5" Rustrys coils under the XJ to replace the soft 3" Rough Country ones that have been on there for 5 years. 2 days to my door.

Shipping time and date are always emailed to me, and the stuff comes within a day of when they said it would.

The only problem I've had with Rusty's parts is a drop TC mount that I bought bent under what I thought to be "mild" circumstances (didn't tell him that I balanced the Jeep on it -LOL!) and I called to advise him of the problem. He said to send him pix, which I did. Nothing ever came of it, not even a thank you.
I wrote it off to typical "Southern Hospitality", so I never followed up with it to show him how I fixed his piece so it wouldn't cause anymore problems.

I had problems with Rocky Road once. It took 4 weeks to get a part they had sitting on the shelf waiting to be picked. After 3 phone calls, one of the phone people got up and picked it themselves, and appologised profusely for the problem.

Working with small parts vendors like we do, it's sometimes hard to get consistant performance. I have heard folks bash TNT's customer service with the same enthusiasm they reserve for Rustys.

Just my take.

Fred, your tounge and cheek response made my morning!

That old saying theres a sucker born every min. Ya I think that has something to do with it.

I'm not saying any company is GOLDEN out there because there not. But if we had to go on percentages of piss poor customer service fake shipping bills and billing issues and a lack of responding to folks problems. Rustys takes the cake for the low ball vender service out there.

on another note they are not as bad as poison spyder for their backup...when i was weldin there they had me try to catch them up on stuff from 6 to 8 months prior...they might have good things but their attutude sucks there they are so arrogent and when clifton goes to the shows he will act like he is their buddy but when someone calls the shop to ask questions or anything he wont talk or return their calls...like he is god there are a couple people there that are cool but the office people aside his wife AJ are rude...best thing about workin there when i did was when aj would come into the shop in tight clothing lol
