Fox or King shocks?

i dont see a point in putting my old blown shocks back on why does it make any difference? and i was commenting on my opinion on the shocks i currently have not that i thought everyone should drive with no shocks. i am in the process of building my rear shocks just need a few more parts

He was commenting that you have no place commenting in a shock thread, if you think a vehicle with only front shocks (even if they are oversized, stiff valved) rides great. A shock mounted to the front, cannot dampen the rear of a vehicle, PERIOD. So your either so stuck on the placebo effect, or have no idea about vehicle dynamics or perceived vehicle ride quality.

The blown rear shocks would work better than no shocks. Even if theyre mostly dry, they will cause drag on compression or rebound, albeit not enough resistance to feel 'right', theyd be better than nothing.

Btw, your wording of how nice your vehicle rides, comparing it to a cadillac is telling. Every caddy ive riden in, feels like a tuna boat.... the complete opposite of what i want my jeep to ride like.

What makes you come to that decision? Are you going thru the floor in the back?

16" is way to much now im afraid 14" may be to much also. I am going through the floor but prob 12" 2.0 smooth body. After talking to a few other guys I did go with fox shox because they are local. Not as expensive but still good quality. Rebuild kits and oil is in stock at ORW.

14" rear going through the floor is no problem.

agreed. I had 14" kings through the floor mounted to the top of the spring plates with the top mounts even with the top of the rear seat back ~ 6" of lift with no problems.

sure, but my hoop was horribly designed and I had no cage. I'm pretty sure it was a major contributor to the fatigue cracks that started showing up in the rear of the unibody.

this was before the upper mounts were finished but you get the basic idea.

put a cage in it, lol. if you're going fast you need it, building a hoop back there moves the stress points to places the unibody wasn't designed to take it. that's my theory anyway. at the very least plate the frame rails front to back, do everything you can to stiffen up the unibody or it WILL fall apart. it's not a question of if, its a question of when.
