I found these pics of my old truck, and my old suburban. These were my first two real offroad builds.

98 Chevy sometimes I still regret selling this truck. Had the Big Block 545, and pretty much every option available.

My Suburban. This speaks for itself. Burban on 40's. (and later it was on 44's)

You had the elusive 545. Damn dude those are super rare.

J/k couldn't resist:jester::jester::jester::jester:

LOL can't believe I didn't catch that typo. Actually I wheeled the burban a lot harder than I have my XJ. I had a built 383 stroker in it, and one tons, with 40's. I beat on it pretty hard, and just got rid of it last October. I sold it to a buddy who is still really rough on it, and it has held up fine. The main reason I wanted the XJ (and got rid of it) was that I wanted something smaller and that didn't drink as much gas. That thing had a 42 gallon tank, and it didn't last long. LOL

Thanks for the info. I struggle between building my FSJ for trail duty and my XJ. The XJ is smaller and...well, it's just smaller. I guess it is a standard also, to me that's a plus. The FSJ is about 2 feet longer (otherwise, within inches of an XJ dimension wise) and I worry how it would perform on tight trails.

That being said, I can run 33's with some trimming and D44s are stock front and rear. Not to mention I dig the wood trim and V8 :D

I took my suburban down a lot of places that my buddies with jeeps said was impossible. Nothing is impossible!! Tight turns are a B****, and obviously it was TALL. However, I could make it fit just about anywhere I wanted to go. Another downside was that when I got stuck, nothing smaller than a dozer could pull me out (that is why I had a 12K winch on the front, and a 9k on the rear). YOu can see from that one pic where I was coming through that tight brush up and out of a creek bed that I didn't let the size of it limit where I went.

That's kinda been my attitude about it also. I swear the FSJ has a tighter turning radius than my XJ does also.....not positive mind you, just feels that way.

Sadly the 4.0L HO produces as much HP (but a lil less torque) than my V8 at almost twice the gas mileage. But then again, it's less comfortable and can't tow nearly as well as the big one.

Thanks for the pics and info. If you find more of the 'Burb, I'd be interested in seeing them.

Check out this mad flex. LOL

I do miss being able to go through almost anything though. LOL

I have talked about getting an old suburban like that too, mostly cause of the 4 kids. With that thing I could haul the kids and their crap. I keep talking myself down though cause of the trails I run. I don't think that a suburban would fit some of the places I have been. I also really like the old square and round nose blazers and I would definately roll in a fsj, mischief. All equally sweet rides. Just to add a little more fuel to the fire, not being a Ford fan, I would also roll an old bronco, scouts are pretty sweet and I have considered an old cruiser, both the 2 and 4 doors (fj40 and fj60?).

I build a BA scout not long after the burban.... I will see if i can find pics of that.

LOL!! For $1500 you can own my FSJ :D

I found some pics of the Scout I built. These pics are from the current owner, the guy I sold it too still has it, and hasn't made any changes to it at all.
