Big Red at Crozet
myjeep.jpg

One of my old CJ's, this is the only one I have digital pics of. Its a 72 CJ-5 with a 57 model 283 SBC, 67 vette heads, locked front and rear (Detroits)

It was one scary ride!

yikes that looks like some ripped up undercarriage

I got it through okay, Hadfield spotted me through that day. Big Red is one of the few rigs that made it through Potts "bottom-up" on 30's open/open to this day.

Here is Big Red now, its my 17 year olds DD and is retired from trail duty. It now has a 242 and a D-35 in it and I lowered it back down to 3" lift from 5.5"

Its on a mixed bag of OME and RE lift components.

Wow, you don't often see a trail rig gone back to a pretty clean DD. Looks like you drove it hard on the trail and it still looks pretty now!

I wheeled it hard but carefully! LOL!

I put the D-35 in it as a "fuse" for my son, I figured that if he wanted to do stupid stuff the axle would let go pretty quick and teach him a lesson. In fact my son babies that Jeep and gives it TLC so the 29 spline 8.25 and NP231 will go back in it in a month or so.

He has driven it a year without a scratch, thats better than the oldest son did.
