My buddy has a 2000 Ranger 4x4. He was exploring and got stuck in a creek. I pulled him out (with a series of running start yanks), and now we need to replace the pinion in the front end. He is completely unable to use 4wd. If he puts it in 4hi it doesn't move. Gas mileage has dropped some so I'm assuming there's some drag being created by the front end while rolling down the road. Does anyone have any experience in this area? How hard of a job is this and does anyone have a write up or anything along those lines? Thanks.
