Ford guys are bowing down

I'm sorry, people who LIKE Ranger's have some serious mechanical problems, recalls, etc. (note that the first one is the model they are praising in the above-cited Ranger Forum thread)

(replaced rear axle, clutch master cylinder, & transfer case; all before 40k miles -- the guy's OK with it b/c it was all covered under warranty)

(4.0 SOHC. rust?? at 5,500 miles?)

(has little trim problems, & says, "girls are unimpressed by this truck")

this guy hasn't had any problems, & he's owned it for 5,500 miles (woo whoo):

"The problem was not resolved during the 15,000-mile service, so we took the truck back to the dealer in November 1999. The Ranger now had two distinct drivetrain issues: First, we observed that it clunked into gear when we moved the shift lever from "Park" to "Drive," "Park" to "Reverse" and so on. Second, shifts were hard and unrefined during acceleration. Hollywood Ford decided to lubricate the driveshaft yoke (a warranty repair), and drivers reported the transmission issues resolved.

But just before the end of the lease, our editor-in-chief experienced the harsh shifting again - and on one occasion, the transmission freewheeled when he turned off overdrive while coasting down a steep freeway descent. Wardlaw was a bit put off, since the Ranger was never asked to carry heavy loads or do any towing."

Many years ago, maybe, Ford used to make good vehicles. But direct experience of their cars (Taurus, Tempo(!), Escort, Crown Vic, couple of vans) has made impossible for me to have anything but contempt for them. Their trucks may be a different matter, but I see no evidence for being particularly loyal to Ford even on that count. I do appreciate that their 4.0L gets better gas mileage.

And I do not deny that Jeeps have their little problems, but the drivetrain usually holds up well. I'm actually not thrilled by Jeep as a brand, and the 2000-2001 XJ seem really poorly put together, but, like I say, Ford has been a complete disappointment in almost all manifestations with which I have had any contact, except a most ancient pickup my grandfather once had.

Here ya go, send them this pick and ask them if they

Gawd you musta been boring as hell having the maturity level of a 30 year old your whole life.
Part of the fun in owning a vehicle is the name on the front and being able to knock on other makes- big fawkin deal. How boring would the automotive world be if there wasn't harmless competition- whether ignorant or not.
Wouldn't nascar be fun to watch with one make racing.

Its not like we would just drive buy a ford stuck on the trail, or vice versa.

If you dont want younger people on this forum having a little fun make a motion and change the minimum age to join to 30. I agreed about mentioning the naxja on that site- I went back and deleted all my post, and suggested that the others do the same- I asked a mod to delete the thread in mod tech and it was done.

You can have fun all you want. Just don't defame NAXJA in the process.

Carry on.

Actually this is no worse than when everyone jumps on Pirate to shit talk Owl every single time he posts a thread and even the ones complaining about this thread did just that, Think about how pathetic it must have made NAXJA look last time bcause even Pirate shut it down real qiuck and how often do you see them lock a thread for talkin shit, Before someone jumps up and down callin names he had better make sure his own slate is clean

And on that note, a good time to close this thread.
