Ford Bumper for 88 XJ!!

Does anyone have a picture of a sturdy bracket that you would purchase? I have been curious as to how some of the companies that manufactures aftermarket bumpers reinforce the mounting brackets and the jeep itself as the mounting area is kinda weak. I have an idea of doing just what you mentioned and adding a winch plate in the future. Thanks for the posts.

Maybe Rigidco as a third alternative, I just figured he could modify a steering box reinforcement plate to use as a bumper mount.

Not seeing those brackets anywhere, and now trying to figure this t-case skid I just picked up... factory type. Seems I have a lack of threaded inserts disease. Any tips would be greatly appreciated:

Uh, this thread is like a year old. And I think everyone has seen the Detours Backbone several times already. In fact the guys from Detours post on here pretty regularly, and yes, they have great products. Just had to give you a little crap, since you seem pretty new here.

yea... um, the ford bumper cost me about $10 for paint and bolts, the reason I posted this was just ideas for someone who doesn't have $2-300. But thanks for making a post, rock on.

did you ever get the hidden winch mount completed steve? Give us some pics of what you ended up with? I was also thinking it would be a great location for a intercooler to go with a turbo for the XJ
