For those of you passing through Nevada on way to Moab

I take it you guys will be going Hwy 50? Anyone prefer to take I-80?

I ask because I was originally going to take 50 but turns out I need to take a detour and drop some stuff of at my brother's who lives in Orem. So I am thinking I-80 would be better. Plus its 2 lanes vs 1...

Anyone know how much longer time-wise it will take going I-80?

Might be shorter timewise on I80 assuming you can go the speed limit and don't get stuck in traffic in the SLC area but it's about 100 miles farther.

Google says it's a 60 mile difference for me, but I'm right at the 50/80 connection in Sacto.

Thats just it. Because I have to go to Orem, if I go 50 then I have to go North a bit on Hwy 15 then backtrack down so I figure the mileage is about the same for me.

But if I did not have to do that I take it Hwy 50 is the preferred route...?

I don't know if it is "the preferred route" but it's the way I like to go.

I80 is a breeze once you get out of Reno. Speeds average about 80+, and usually there is very little traffic.



Apparently it sometimes gets shut down during the winter, but in October that shouldnt be a concern.
