Well, my situation changed , so I gotta pass this deal along to the next guy. I've got $400 into it, so I'd hate to take less than that for it, but I will consider ANY TRADES.

Stock '88 2 Door, 4x4, 4.0, auto tranny. Disco 30 front, 35 rear, 231 t-case. I forgot to check the ODO (damnit), but I beleive there are less than 200k miles on it and it should only need an alternator and battery to run.

Looks good Billy. I'd take it if I didn't have 2 that I'm cleaning up to sell (91' & 96'). Maybe if you would like it, but cannot at the moment find a home for it...you could have someone store it or stick it in their big yard? As you know 2 dr model XJs aren't that plentiful so it might take a little while to locate another 1 at the price you got this 1 at. You could go do DMV and get a temp registration for a month or so. I got a 91' XJ about 3 months ago and the lady I got it from got temp registration consistently for 6 months or so. You should be able to get a least a month and tell them you are bringing it back to operational status. You could keep it outside my townhouse area on Birdcage behind El Torrito's if you want. I had a vehicle with expired registration sit outside for 3 months or so before I got a ticket. That should buy you some time. I want you to get this XJ project going again bud. :laugh3:

Salvaged.
Billy

My 91' that I got for $300 in running condition has a salvage title as well. What does that really mean? I know something about that it was a total loss, and I think you can only get liability insurance for it. For the price you are asking, I wouldn't worry to much about that. I'm hoping to get quite a bit more for mine after I clean it up a bit. The Jeep looks pretty clean, no rust etc and the body looks straight, you should be fine Billy. You can make a bit of a profit on it by putting it up on Auto Trader. $45 till it sells with up to 9 pics. Just a suggestion, good luck bud.

Whats the score with the motor / tranny. Did you ever drive it? or was it towed to its current resting spot? If you drove it, how does it shift, does the TC lock up? Any howling noises from the rear diff. (it is a 35 after all) Did you put it into 4x4, if so how did it sound, any noises from the tcase?

any leaks?
any rust?
CA car?
What was the cause for the salvage? VIN to run a carfax?
smoged when the sale went to you?
is the registration up to date?
