Fixed to well??

Why would it run any cooler if a 195 tstat is being used?????? The 195 keeps the temperature from dropping BELOW 195! If you had a racing grade cooling system with a 195 degree tstat, the temperature would run at..... 195!

BTW, I also use the Mr. Gasket 195 and it works well.

I don't know, unless my new t'stat is bad.

Maybe you didn't get the T Stat you thought you did?

No it says 195 on it, and on the package. I called Summit today, and they said it was most likely stuck open. Their sending me a new one for free.

1995. It says AMC, and GM, but their all the same. No-one lists the Cherokee at 195 with a 16 lbs cap. Everyone, even Autozone will try ang give you 165 or 180 and a 13 lb cap.

Go figure.

Tree Frog, I guess I assumed from your first post that when you said "I can't get the temp to 200" that you meant it hovered just below 200 all the time (a good thing), not that it fluctuated a bunch. If after your jeep warms up the temp starts dropping, it certainly is a safe bet the tstat is stuck open. I run almost the exact same setup you do (3 row rad, new dealership hoses, mr. gasket 195; I don't have a fancy waterpump though) and my temperature sticks between 195-200 at all times. Only a few times has it gotten to around 210, but it never falls under 195; the tstat closes a bit to keep it from cooling off.

At one point I ran a Mr. Gasket 180 but for some odd reason it seemed to open at about 150 or so; not good. Before my radiator upgrade the system couldn't keep the temp at 150 for long (obviously) while in the city, but it cooled way down on the highway so I had those huge fluctuations. I quickly switched back to a 195, wallet thanked me for it at the pump.

If you have any doubts, I'd just go to the dealer and get the Mopar tstat. Guaranteed to be exactly what it's supposed to be and perform to spec.

Yeah your right. If the computer thinks she's cold all the time, she'll be way rich.

I'm just glad they didn't give me any crap. He just said he's sending me a new one.
