First step

Haha yeh bank account is definitely scared to death right now, still trying to decide which lift route to go...need to quit over analyzing and pull the trigger.

Locker deal fell through this week so still looking on that front

My new tires are gettin lonely

Called up RC today and placed an order...this is officially the last weekend of the mini jeep. Picked up some PB blaster and will be soaking bolts this week.

:)

Okay, looking for opinions here.

Still trying to get ready for uwharrie opening and have a few things I need (or should have) by then but can't really afford to do it all in less than a month.

So help me prioritize...

I need some sort of front recovery. Was thinking IRO bracket but seems like a waste of money if I'm doing a bumper down the road

I would like rocker protection but looking at JCR build times it seems like it would be hit or miss on receiving them before april 1st

Lift did not come with a track bar and from what I understand is the stock unit will have trouble handling the larger tires and limit my flex

A locker would definitely be nice as well...

Have about $400 for a budget

Thanks guys

When I started a build from stock....bought steel protection as I could afford it, upgraded tires to the largest that I thought I could fit when the stockers wore out (255/70x16's I think, something like a 30x10.50), then trimmed when they hit the rear wheel wells. Bought front hook brackets (cause I couldn't afford the bumper) and bend them the first time I used them...collected used bumpers along the way (ARB for the front and Bulletproof for the rear both found on NAXJA for sale forums), installed Chassis Stiffeners before even lifting. The springs were near the end. I didn't mess with coil spacers or shackles/blocks because it was the same labor as doing the suspension...and time is as tight as money! Towards the end, I had a well protected, 3 inch lifted, open both ends and stock geared XJ on 32's that worked pretty well. Never got to the gears or locker...truck got squished by a tree in my back yard...
It really worked well. I could bang my way over rocky trails without fear of ripping something important out of the bottom, and drive to work on Monday morning...that part was real imporant at the time! And my 3 inches was pretty flexy if I don't say so myself...so that's my 2 cents.:D

ps. I think chassis stiffeners are unde rappreciated, and VERY important if you plan on keeping your XJ for any period of time.

Definitely planning on stiffening the chassis. Just tough to figure out what order this stuff needs to be done for preventative measures. In a perfect world I would have 10g's to drop into the jeep right now and have it all done in 3 weeks. :)

I don't plan on wheeling anything to insane on the maiden voyage so skid plates are not on the short list. But they are on the list!

Just trying to figure out which will have the greatest benefit to the rig at the moment and I'm sure there's more needed that I'm not thinking of!

And the fun begins!

yeh....I just ordered my BO HD leafs...can't wait to lift my rear end...it's WAY to saggy.

Figured this would be a good kit to base off of without wasting money on parts that will be replaced down the road (ie longarms flex-e packs) plus it got me up in the air!

Well halfway anyway

4 1/2 on 35's! Just had to see how it looked 33's and the front end tackled tomorrow, it's late!

yeh, that's tight. Once I get my new leaves in, I'll be on 5-5.5 on 35's....right now my rear is about 2" on 35's...w/the wheel wells significantly cut...

Wow, I'm proud! You're the first person to spot that in the 3 months that it's been there. Kudos!

I will tell you. Only because your name is also Andy.

you gotta be kidding me? I'm the first? I saw that awhile back, just figured someone would mention it, but never did...so I did:cheers:
us Andy's gotta stick together...:twak:
