LOVE IT! It is such an upgrade over Internet Explorer. The biggest thing that im happy with about Firefox is No POP-UPS! There are an occasional few but only on certain cites and even then its not bad at all. I wont ever use IE again if firefox keeps performing the way it does.

I use FireFox for everything I can. I run across a very few sites that won't work with anything but either Netscape or IE (or both) - and I make sure to bitch about that fact when I run into them!

No popups, easy management, and no inbuild AOHell crap. I'll keep it. It's well worth the download, and free? Cheap at twice the price!

Those who used it and didnt like it obviously either like pop-ups or has no idea what their talking about....

Firefox is the best thing to come to the internet since sliced bread...better security than IE, ZERO popups, faster software, easier to navigate...whats not to like?!?!

Firefox is definetly the way to go. After I switched, My adware/spyware occurances dropped to near zero. The other cool thing is the extensions, that let you customize your browser.

Hey, I used to have this problem too until I read this from the FireFox support forums:

-----

Letting Firefox Claim it is Internet Explorer -

Some media websites bypass the problem of supporting multiple browsers by just supporting IE (and sometimes old Netscapes) and using a Browser Detection Script to detect what browser you are using. If you view the site with Firefox it will simply say you are not using a compatable browser and deny you access. A good deal of the time, Firefox (when set up correctly) can render such sites/media. You can trick such sites into letting you in by using the User Agent Switcher extension:

http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=156

A browser's User Agent specifies what the browser is, and some more information like Operating System. This extension allows you to change what the User Agent says. If you set the User Agent to Internet Explorer, Firefox will claim it is IE when asked - tricking sites that only allow Internet Explorer into letting you in.

Hope that helps...

Stinkin' no-good can't hotlink sites...

Why can't I edit my post? It's only 48 minutes since I did it?

I use both Opera and Firefox. I find myself using Opera a bit more than FF these days. We have one web based app that only works in IE and that is about the only time I use IE.

Will have to grab that extension for FF posted above

When firefox was developed, it was developed by a 17yr old who has been working with computers and programming since he could type. When he developed firefox he was working for netscape and took basically the netscape program, made it better and called it Firefox. Whenever you first download it until you customize it with different buttons or w/e, it looks very similar to netscape.

I write secure web site applications for a living and have been programming since 1967. FireFox has problems with many secure site certificates. It has had it's share of security holes and problems as well. It is a decent browser, but it is not perfect. It has its own different set of issues.

As for IE, if you have no idea what you are doing, you will end up with popups, and in the spirit of the quote above, anybody with half a brain can set IE to work great.

"Can be set to work great(IE)" with tuning and tweaking and add-on pop-up blockers...or works great straight outta the box(Firefox)

Which sounds better here? :looney:

Hey look...its IE popups! :paperwork

And for the record...if anyones having issues with Foxfire and secure sites/certs, download the latest updates(they come out all the time and only take a couple seconds to download). If that doesnt fix it, send a link to the site in question to the guys at Mozilla and youll usually see some sort of fix pretty quickly...at least, i have.

to wierd been working on pages for the new site for rockwerks.com and the TNT customs page lines up differently in firefox than IE or opera....looks good in firefox and opera the graphics are misalligned in some areas............... Oh well Ive been putting in a paypal shopping cart

I like it a lot. easy to use right out of the box (so to speak). IE can bite me. I hate IE. I used the popup blocker (and several others) but it still lets them popup. I run adaware after 3-4 HOURS of surfing IE & have numerous spyware to remove. When I use firefox, I'll run adaware after 3-4 WEEKS & have MAYBE 1 (at the most) spyware to remove............BIG difference.

It's not perfect but I'm stickin' with it.

Here's a way to make firefox/mozilla work faster. Got this off another site & it actually makes a difference.

1. Type "about:config" into the address bar (not the search bar) & hit enter.

2. Scroll down to "network.http.pipelining". Right click, select toggle, click to "true".

3. Find "network.http.proxy.pipelining". Do the same thing as above to this one.

4. Find "network.http.pipeling.maxrequests". Right click & set it to "30".

5. Right click anywhere & select "new" then "integer". Set the value to "0"

6. Close firefox. Open firefox & check it out.

If anyone tries it, let me know what ya think afterwards. It really sped up the page loading, especially if it has pics.

I haven't noticed a huge difference after doing that. Maybe cause I was still taken back with how much faster FF was over IE. I'm loving FF so far.
