Guys you know how we all want to see factory colors or what the color code was or is and what should the original color should look like.
Or any other questions about paint colors/codes.

Found this site which may he a great help in the never ending paint color quest.

Figured I'd pass it along.

15 bucks a can! more expensive then dealer! great source though, especially if the stealership stopped carrying your color! But I guess if it ever came time to be buying gallons worth of paint I would pick a new color!

No Border patrol green there. Oh well Ace sells a color called "safety green" which is close enough for me!

Thanks for sharing though!

Dang - what a bummer - I thought I had a good find for colors and codes..... hopefully it helps someone - somewhere - somehow.

I was just looking for a place that has replacement paint for my Jeep, deep Amethyst pearl. Napa mixed me a rattlecan once for 15 bucks, unfortunately they mixed it so thin that it took a crapload of coats just to get it close to matching. I really need to touch up my Jeep, I'd like a pint but man these prices are expensive.
Does anyone know of some cheaper places?

If you expect to paint a few panels, you might investigate larger quantities at a good auto parts store that does paint. Of course you'd need to be able to spray to make that work, but at the kind of prices we're seeing on the web site, it might be an option. It's been a few years since I bought paint, but the last time I did, I think the PPG acrylic was going for something like $25 a quart at my local store. Pretty steep by some standards, but a bargain relative to some other sources. Your luck may depend in part on the skill of the operators doing the mixing. The place I got mine does it well, with good matching, and if you can get an acrylic that doesn't need clearcoat, you could end up ahead.

I've done a lot with one of these:

A great little gun to use on something like a fender or a rocker panel, and pretty easy to blend when doing rust repairs.

What kinda auto parts store would mix me something like a pint or quart? I went to NAPA like I said earlier. The guy mixed it kinda well but he thinned it so much for the rattlecan that it did take quite a few coats to get the color to come out. I'll definitely get a touch-up spray gun, I had one someplace but never used it. I'll get an inline filter as well. Like I said, I need to paint the lower sections of my doors and a couple other misc. spots. I don't need a concours paint job because I'll probably scratch it again, but I still like to keep my Jeep looking nice. That and the fact that I usually like to keep the metal coated, when I lived in MI I got really nitty gritty with that and that's how my Jeep survived the rust belt.

I don't know what's in your area, but there are a couple in my area that do it. There's a "Parts Master" place that has Pittsburgh, and another more or less independent one that does DuPont. The Parts Master place is a little cheaper, but they both mix quarts and gallons. I don't know whether they do pints, though. It's been quite a while since I bought paint, but both places did a really good job of matching.

Maybe you can find something in the yellow pages, if there's a decent yellow pages in your area any more (they suck here).
