Experience a cam failure? Me too.

Hmm.. to make matters worse the post I was referencing isn't even on this, but the co4x4 board, that'll confuse a guy.

I hope you get it figured out, this stuff is the pits. I had a somewhat similar problem, but mine was the plain journal cam bearings- gone in 100 miles in my 401. Lobes were still good. I was considering Velcro motor mounts.

If you still have it, cut the old filter open. Racers do it to check what's not going to the pan - a standard 10 micron filter does catch a lot. It's what you want it to do.

I'm experiencing a collapsed lifter from carbon grit lately. Next change I'm opening up the filter to see what's in there.
 
At work we use a cutter like this. I'm not saying to go out and buy one, you could probably make your own, like we did, for alot less. Just don't use a saw and add a bunch of metal as you cut.
