Exhaust question

Well, with the locker on it's way, I am looking for a new exhaust system from the damage done commuting to the slopes this winter. I am pretty set on a gibson exhaust but was wondering about the catalytic converter and the laws for them here in CO. Do you have to have one or not? Also, anyone with advice about the exhaust system, let me know. I am planning to do the install myself. The manifold is good but everything back needs replaced and made better.

You do need a converter. I went with a high flow from Rustys with bungs for the o2s already in it and I also went with the cat back system he sells because the price is hard to beat and you can install it yourself. That said, the exhaust is 5 years old and I'll soon have Chuck @ Discounnt Muffler do my new exhaust because the Flowmasters are just too loud.

Thanks so much. Rusty's beats the current price I was looking at really well. How are they for shipping? Did you have any problems? I have heard some bad things about their customer service.

Call and place your order. The website shipping values are almost doubled. If you call you will get an accurate price.

Flowmaster noisy? My lack of exhaust isn't so bad. 20" of straight pipe with a turn down. Still has the cat. Probably quieter running down the road than my F-250 with a 3" Flowmaster. Wait, did I say that out loud? Ignore this post! ;)

Don't think my Flowmaster is too loud - then again it's a Delta 50, which is supposedly a little less 'throaty' than the 40 series.

Okay, well I know you can get the flowmaster from Autozone and avoid the rep of rusty's. In that case, where can I get my hands on the bent pipes for the exhaust?

Note, the Flowmaster is 5 years old and has had plenty of abuse (also note that FMs hold up real well to rocks). If I didn't leave for work at extreme hours, and like my neighbors, it really wouldn't matter. As DJ pointed out, you can still get a deep, throaty (did I just say that) exhaust note without setting off car alarms, that's what my motorcycle is for. :wow:

Just stick a glass pack behind the cat and call it good......mine has been on for 5 yrs now and has had the crap beat out of it....
