I need a replacement exhaust manifold for the 4.0 L. So far the banks Torque Tube and Revolver come to mind. The prices are a bit too steep although not unattainable.

Banks site shows the increase in HP and Torque. In addition to these, what other advantages and disadvantages are there?

There are other manufactures of manifold for the 4.0 L. What do you guys have good service life with combined with good overall performance? I just need something that is reliable and maybe overall better performance that the OEM that is on there now boasting 380,000 miles.

For injectors, I think I will get a set from the GO-Pull-IT yard and send them for re-furbish. Installed now is a set of the Ford 19# units that are tired after about 150,000 miles.

What year XJ? Bosch 703s work nice in my 1992, but there's a different part number for later models, the connector changed.

I use a Doug Thorley. Mine has not cracked through worn motor mounts and Death Wobble. The Thorley does come Ceramic Coated. I have use a Pace Setter. I have installed 2 and had one on the MJ for a few years. I don't like that slip joint for the XJ ones. The newer slip joint may be better than the old style. The Wrangler one has spherical joints. Much better.

I went with longer runner style Chinese header style (stainless steel) without the flexy bends.

woo woo $110.. but boy did I pay in frustration..

All normal issues.. doesn't fit in 2 spots. (one spot due to Brown Dog motor mount other furthest exhaust tube just hit intake) heat and hammer.. fixed
And flange depth will not be the same..

Removed installed 3-4 times.. already.

still have ..(an) exhaust leak(s)..

UPSIDE.. feels like a lot more power. (old intake wasnt leaking)
reinstalling intake- barely screw in lowered bolts. just have enough room to drop intake over the studs and slide it in.
the $1700 US made header to down tube.. seems attractive now...

Now that I have made your decision harder. GOOD LUCK

I appreciate the comments and experiences of thse who have posted. Thank you.

The Dough Thorley had good reviews years in the XJ crowd. many liked the long tube version especially regarding the low RPM torque. On my previous XJ, I had the Borla headers with the down pipe which I liked very much. The XJ headers are not on their site anymore. I do prefer the headers and downpipe as a package instead of shopping elsewhere for downpipe that will fit the headers. I don't see many offerings that include the downpipe. I don't mind fabricating from the Cat Back. I run the Flow Master 50 since the early 2,000s that are still in great shape.
Back to searching online for a good overall offering.
