exaust flange studs

does any one know if the studs in your exaust manafold(the two that connect the heder to the down pipe) screw out or are they pressed in like wheel studs

On my '87 they were splined and pressed in on the original OEM manifold. On the aftermarket replacement manifold they are just regular bolts in a hole.

I found with my 87 that although the hole left in the header is a little large, it worked just fine to replace the pressed in studs with nuts and bolts with big washers.

Now I'm wondering if the manifold on the Montana-mobile was a replacement.

Just did my exhaust manifold on my '94 XJ and the bolts were pressed in.
