I am thinking of picking up a code reader finally. Does anyone have direct experience with the equus 3100? The 3100 is cheap and seems to show the code along with the definition which would be really handy.

I am not looking for a cheap usb/bluetooth code puller, I want an actual reader not something I need a laptop or iPhone to use.

I have one, I like it.
The def's aren't exactly full definitions, but they give you an idea of what the code relates to.
the P code that comes up, I normally research on the web for a better idea of what it is. normally you can find a forum of whatever vehicle your checking to see what others have had a problem with in regards to that code.

either way, if you can get it on sale, or for around $50-$75 I'd go for it. I'd say mine is in use about once a month at least, buddies are always asking to use it.

I think amazon has it for $75 and it would be mostly to use on other peoples cars(I have an ultragauge in my XJ that shows codes). I like the idea that I can plug it in, get the code and get even a brief description right on the screen. At least I can narrow down, oh it's an o2 sensor without having to take the code and then look it up.

Does it allow you to clear codes? *Edit, Yes it can clear codes ha.
