Well guys we left out of Spring Lake, NC today and made it approximately 350 to the east side of Atlanta before we stopped. Total trip is going to be 1022 miles...:banghead:

We didn't get on the road till about noon due to packing everything into the trucks today.

Minimal unpacking at the motel here since we are only staying the one night. Should be able to cover some ground tomorrow.

Stopped every 100 miles so far and have put almost 3 qts of oil in it already. The cockpit stunk like burnt oil the whole way since it hits the exhaust. Think it's the oil pan gasket. Just did the oil filter adapter and the trans flex plate was dry during recent trans swap few months back. Speed is an average of about 59mph. At 60 I start to get a vibe in the up and down motion (as opposed to side to side!!) Still trying to track that down. Wondering if it just isn't the SS TSL's and rude road manners...

My 4 month old road dog rode in my lap pretty much the whole way:

Have a spare waterpump in case mine goes on the way- getting some intermittant squeaking and once in about 24* weather it had a slight howl to it a while back.

What a frickin' adventure...:explosion

LLooonnnggg drive. Hope it goes smoothly!

Nice Will, nice... I almost (ALMOST) spritzed in my pants.

So today we made it 396 miles. I am currently 10 miles east of Jackson Mississippi in a small town called Brandon where apparently they don't serve liquor.

In the last 3 hours I have been here I have been accosted twice regarding my lack of a snorkel. Was it a factory option here? :gee:

2nd guy to ask has a Wrangler on 44s. I think he's a mudder... I asked him what axles he was running and he said Danas. He was impressed with my Dana 30. I left it at that.

I think he was pumped to hear that our axles were made by the same girl.

Not sure how this move is going to turn out...

Oh yeah- my "road dog" almost killed me today so she got moved to the Command Variant for the remainder of the trip. Piloting the Wartoad requires nerves of steel. I don't need extra paws for help.

Me and the labrador rolling through Birmingham, AL this morning:

She's huge for 4 months old!

Gratuitous shot of me:

More updates to come tomorrow!!

taking the trip in days? i normally make it in one night (and some of the day)

Yeah the whole family made the trip. Me, the Wife, 3 daughters, and two dogs...

Had to keep the Jeep under 60. Vibes.

We made it in today finally.

Looks like I'm gonna have to do the cooling system mods I had planned a little earlier. It's a bit warmer down here.

Yah, it gets a tad bit wahrm down here in da south.

3 kids, damn, how old are you man?

Will, he is from the colder area. What do you think the adults do when it's freezing out..... They get warm...lol. :-P

oh that makes sense, i would just set the cruise at X speed and scoot.

Glad to see you made it. When I got orders down here from NY, I had exactly two weeks notice. Only had one kid and one dog back then. Now I have three and sheesh, I'm dreading the next PCS. But it's been 6 years so maybe it will never happen

Yeah not sure what I was thinking on the temp... I spent 5 years at Ft Benning, GA and met my Wife in Alabama. I'll be retiring to a nice quiet area in southern Bama.

I'm originally from Arizona, so I have an affinity for the heat. Wasn't a fan of Germany, or even the Tennessee winters.

No cruise in this one. My gas pedal leg is killing me. Trying to keep speed on the hills we ran across was aggravating. I gotta get some gears.

Thanks Eric. Gonna get under the heep this weekend to chck some stuff out. Think (hoping!) the spots undr my axles on the asphalt are from the oil leaking down the undercarriage...

Also gonna give my exhaust a good once over. Jeep's got a more noticeable "growl" now. Think I have a leak somewhere.

This trip has been pretty expensive as far as PCS moves go, so I'm praying I don't need to do anything right now.
