Hey
I am looking for an engine oil cooler for my 97 XJ. NOT and I mean NOT a tranny cooler. I have done some searching and have not gotten what I am looking for.
I am looking for people who have done this. What part #’s can you give me so I can order the correct thing? What mfg, where did you get it?
Any useful info would be great.
Also did you have to add more oil to the system when running this?
I am looking for real info so I can do this already.
Thanks in advance.

MOPAR Performance offers oil coolers, also Summit & Jegs have several.
My question is why? I have an oil temp guage in my 89 stroker and oil temp with synthetic is in the 180 to 200 degree range. conventional oil runs 25 - 30 degrees hotter. Unless you are off road racing there doesn't seem to be a need for an oil cooler.

I saw oil *filter* coolers on Trucks! the other day, made by (i think) Innovations LLC??? I haven't been able to find them anywhere on the net, so if anyone knows where to find them, let me know. They claim 10-15 degrees drop, so probably 5 or so...

if you want a serious duty oil cooler look to permacool or flex-a-lite. both offer oil coolers w/ fans which would be nice expecially on the trail because it would draw air in.

From what i have lurned in my limited time personaly and threw other people in motorsports you want to keep fluids like engine oil gear oil and manual tranney oil as cool as posible within reason. ATF fluid is a little diffrent in drag racing for consistency reasons but all in all i would say cooler is better. i know oil does something like over half the cooling in an engine so i would keep it as kool as posible. my vote is Jegs for getting you an oil cooler maby and an inline remot oil filter wail your at it. i have had nothing but good experiences with Jegs. my $.02

Thanks guys,
I have been trying to get the parts localy but the guys at the parts store are not really sure what I need. I mean the part that gos onto the filter location has 3 different ones listed and they are not sure. I called Jeggs and a couple of others and they can get me straight with what I am looking for.
