So random question:

What would be required to get a XJ up and running again if exposed to an EMP?

A Large vehicle crusher and a new XJ.

Seroiusly, how did you find a larger enough EMP to mess it up? I thought it would be just shy of nuclear blast.....

This is a 'just in case' sort of thing.

should we be scared?

be afraid, be very afraid

No, this is all just part of me putting the finishing touches on my bug out plan. Though a few mill would go a long way towards a full contigency plan.

touche

But seriously, what do I need. A buddy and I were talking about it and I wasn't sure.

Well since it's Chrysler based...all you need is a solenoid. Ever seen war of the worlds?

It worked with a caravan. How hard can it really be?!?

Well, thats difficult to say. My escape plan includes an incredibly reliable rig based on a carburator and points. :) Not that it will do any good - there won't be anywhere to go. Choked roads, and more of the same thing everywhere.

But start reading here. EMP is still mostly theory and no one really knows how technology would hold up.

Ok, so they think vehicles won't be affected, more than likely. But what are the electrical components that are key to an XJ's ability to run?

um the ECU, TCU, and all the other crap thats electrical

I know my good 'ol 2.8 will survive. Carbed and no computer, even has a mechanical fuel pump.
I did see something on future weapons where they drove a car under some contraption that created an emp. Short and sweet, car was fried, rolled a few feet and wouldn't start again.

how much time you got? ;) if a EMP works as completely as they do in theory, you can forget trying to get your XJ running and switch to your non electronic ignition/fuel/transmission vehicle to go get carjacked 3 blocks away in.
