anybody close by with welder skills?

I just need to weld some pins in my door hinges so that I have a viable way of putting my doors back on.

It's all a clever plot to get near you so I can fulfill my threat......but you don't don't have a welder

Naw. I got the hinges cut and am using cut down 5/16" bolts, but I would like to use the jeepforum writeup where they are welded into the hinges so its a tighter fit and there is no bolt/pin to lose.

But I'm still going to punch you in the nuts.....traderhasta

I have a flux core welder. My welding skills leave a lot to desire, but if you can weld it you can come by and borrow mine. I'm out in Hutto.

come on you two, it's an electric glue gun. Start on some scrap, make a puddle and move it along, once you can make a puddle, you can see the metal moving and it goes where you move it. get a book, and spend 30 minutes and you both should do fairly well. I' in Clifton, or I'd teach ya. There is someone close that can I'm sure, but it would be easy for you both to work together and come up with a decent weld, promise.

I can weld with it but not pretty beads. I made my own rock sliders and I have been hitting them on the rocks without breakage. Though if I have to weld something for others I prefer it to be holding up good and look good too.

If looks are of no concern we can give it a shot. In worst case scenario I have a grinder as well. :)

I've worked with welders and welded for a good part of my adult life. The best advice I ever got was from an older welder, when I asked him, "If I only learn one thing from you about welding, what should I learn?" He replied "you don't have to be a good welder, just a great grinder." I'm sure if you both got together, shot the breeze and took your time, I'd be proud to sport your beads, confidence, and comfort, take your time, and get comfortable, you'll do great. (grind, grind)
