Since when did MS start emailing security patches with attached executables ??
Headers looked good but thats easy enough to do. Anybody else get it ???
Deleted it till I can find out more.

i think you did the right thing. think of the email server they would have to have to email it out to everyone. plus it would be redundant...they want everyone to use the MS Update Site.

i'd stay away from it. besides, you'd probably hear about it on the news cause MS would have a press release beings it's not their normal practice to email out patches.

to be safe, i'd just go the the Update Page and update it there. if it was a real update, it would also be on the update page. better safe than sorry.

well, me being the computer geek that i am, decided to do a little looking around. well i couldn't find anything yet on it. but low and behold, i go to check my yahoo email account, and i've got 2 emails like that...from different addresses with slightly different subject lines. well i scanned the exe file that came with it. and here's what norton returned...

Scan result: Virus Worm.Automat.AHB found. File not cleaned.

i'm tempted to play around with it to see what it does. but i should finish my work first. then i'll tinker with it.

glad you used your head and didn't run it.

Got 8 of them emailed

Just got 8 of them from different senders. Gotta get rid of these windows boxes.

no.... you gotta make sure your "friends" have AV software that's up to snuff :)
And yet again... I get emails about linux updates.. and I get at least one a week about required update to either kernel or one of the other core modules needing to be updated for security reasons :D

My take on this topics is as such: no OS is perfect and since Windows has the largest install base it is targeted most. If linux was to take the top install base spot... guess what.... we'd have more stuff targeting linux :D
