Does anyone have a write up on replacing the ECM. i went fourwheeling last sunday, and went through some water. well the jeep was running like crap, so i took it to my shop, and i found out that the O2 sensor got too wet and somehow shorted it out to the altornator. that then sent a shock of high volts to the ECM and that now is fried. Any help will be helpful thanks

What year? The ChryCo SBEC units should be fairly easy, but the RENIX (1987-1990) are difficult...

(Yes, I know you have "93" in your moniker - but many of us here own more than one XJ, and I'd like to be sure. Hell, I've got four, and that's not even that many - I believe Glenn and Eagle both have me beat...)

5-90

send me 25 bucks and ill send you a pcm out of a 91 cherokee, (if interested i can give you vin). just replace with comparible pcm and walaa, your done. the hard part is getting a comparible pcm that works.

First of all, I would get a second opinion on the ECM (or PCM as the chrysler folks call it). If it is a 91-up, it should send codes. Make sure everything is dried out, and that you're getting good advice.

If it is a bad one, and if it's a 91-up, it's plug and play. Disconnect battery, detach pcm from the inner fender, unplug it, replace it.
