So has anyone ever heard of the Eastwood welders? I have never heard of them and can't seem to find anything for reviews on them. I was looking at this one on ebay Eastwood MIG Welder 110VAC 135 amp Output Welding but the only thing I can find about them is what the company that makes them says.

My welder is giving me problems and I knew it would sooner or later so I have been looking around for a good welder for a good price. I don't have money coming out the pockets so I can't be spend couple thousand on a welder. I have been looking at the Lincoln 140 or the 180. Leaning to the 140 so I don't have to put put the extra $150 to run a 220 outlet to the shop.

Anyways I saw this Eastwood on Ebay and just wanted to see if anyone has heard anything about them.

Hi guys,

I wanted to clear up a few of the concerns on our new Eastwood welders that I've seen mentioned her and on a handful of other forums.

1.These are NOT rebadged or rebranded welders made by another large company for us with our name on it.
-These welders we designed and tested in house here at Eastwood. They were designed to be EQUIVALENT to the Lincoln Mig Pak 10 (our 135) and the Mig Pak 15 (our 175). We oversaw every step of the production process to make sure these were designed to our specs and expectations. Our main concern is to give you a welder that is built to the same specs and quality as a industrial welder, but priced towards a serious hobbyist.
-We go so far as to back our welders with a 3 year warranty. That is backed by Eastwood Company, not by a 3rd party company, like people seemed to be confused about. We didn't begin offering these for a "quick buck", in fact we are working on designing further products to add to our welding product line (can you say affordable TIG and Plasma cutters?)

2. Consumables- Our welders are made with a Tweco style gun (the same as most major companies including Lincoln use). Therefore all consumable parts (nozzle, tips, etc) are available at any local welding supply store. We are enthusiasts here ourselves, and we know the frustration of needing a part or supplies halfway through the job and not being able to get it! (for me this past weekend it was running out of mig wire at 5:30PM on a Sunday and realizing the only local "Farm" store that would have wire closed at 5 )

3.These welders were not the ones you may have seen on Ebay a year ago for sale. Those were simply another company's welder we were retailing under their name. These welders are brand new welders that we designed from step 1. Any other welders you may have seen previously were before we began manufacturing our welders.

Don't know about their welders, but I have been buying from Eastwood for longer than I want to say. I have NEVER gotten any trash from them. They have always delivered a good value for your dollar. My first powder coat gun and pin welder came from them when they first came out. Still using both regularly.
 
Dave: That's what I was saying about the only reviews I have been able to find on them is the reviews that the company is giving out. I was hoping that someone might have seen some reviews about their welders that was wrote by some people that bought the welders from them. I'm sure it is a good producted but I just like to get first hand views on things when I tend to put out some money like this. I know they have to be better then the welders that harbos freight has lol.

I saw some of these eastwood welders on ebay and the one I'm looking at one there would be good for me if it is what they say it is and it is a good price.

If you have the money there is a nice 110v Mac welder on craigslist for 300.00

Also the Eastwood one does have a 3 year warranty so if it does make it that far that's 110. A year to own it. And like said above I have bought a few things from them and have had very good luck with them.

So is eastwood local or sold locally then? Would make getting replacement on warranty a lot easier that way instead of having to ship them.

I saw that mac on CL and was also looking at the benchtop pro with the bottle then saw it was only 90 amp out put, I would like to get at least 140 out put or closer to that.
 
I would only feel safe purchasing if company was local to so cal. In a welding class, we had an engineer bring in a Tig Welder that he made himself, to compete with the miller, i think dynasty,, well he said for $1500 he would show you how to make one, Our instructor broke it on day one,,, well the point is, you could be buying a high quality machine equivelent to the big name, just make sure they have a good waranty. (i also thought it was cool that someone could make their own in their garage.)
 
LOL I want to know how to make a welder lol Then if I brake it I should be able to fix it.

So here is another name to throw out there Clarke I have never heard of them either. So does anyone know anything about the clarke welders? I'm just trying to see what other brands of welders people have dealt with before besides the normal ones we all know about (Miller, Lincoln, Hobart)
 
What about the hobarts heard there was a couple of them floating around?

What price range were they at? I'm going to be going out to take a look at some at coastal farm garden tomorrow seems they don't like to list much on their site don't even have prices on their site WTH.
 
I would go with the general base here and say go with a company that has a good warranty thats local. Warranty work usually doesnt cover shipping and shipping that thing would suck for cost. I also look at it as supporting a local business. I have a Lincoln SP-175T and have used it like crazy for years with no complaints. On a different note, like mentioned above I have also bought Eastwood products and have yet to be let down with quality and cost.
 
Yeah that's my biggest thing I want something that is easy to deal with the warranty one and not have to ship it out. That is why I was trying to see if they are sold somewhere locally but I haven't seen them anywhere so I'm leaning more towards other ones.

I as well for 12+ years have used mostly lincolns and have never had a problem with them but at this time it is a money thing though. Problem with saving up for the brand I really want is I need the welder on a daily bases to pay the bills lol. So thinking of looking in to a lower cost one until I have the money saved up for the one I really want to get but want the lower cost one to have a warranty that is covered locally, yeah I know I'm a picky demanding little bastard but what can I say lol. I think the Clarkes are carried at coastal farm and then there is also the dreaded hated Harbor Freight one but can get the extra warranty on them and if they break in a two year time line can just take it back to the store for a free replacemeant so that is where I am with that at this time.
 
Ok so I went to Coastal and looked at what they got, I went with the auto arc 130 which is made by Hobart and Hobart is made by Miller and all of which are made in USA and have a local way of covering the warranty on them. The one I got comes with a 3 year on the welder and 1 year on the gun. Looked over good and it is a well built machine and all the reviews I found on them have been very good.
 
lol Yeah I know might as well of went with Harbor Freight. I know it's not a Miller oh wait
 
Hobarts are good welders from what I've read. But they are not made by Miller like everyone thinks. The company that owns miller also owns Hobart.

You might also find trying to production weld with it may not pan out well. I can easily stall my Lincoln sp-135 and trip 20amp breakers set on high.

They show some things on the web site but not much. The hobart ones they sell they just give you a link to go to for hobart and the other ones they just pretty much say they have them. They don't list what ones they have or how much they are or anything like that. I'm not looking to do production work with them like what you might think, I was using the 90 amp POS from harbor freight and never over heated it because I don't weld for that long of a time at one time, figure I never over heated or triped breakers with the POS HF one then I should have no problems with this one until I can afford a $2000 welder but before that I will be buying a better bender lol.

Got to play with it a little bit today after setting it up and I can already tell me and this little welder are going to get along just fine lol. Everything on it seems to be made of good parts and a solid little machine also a 3 year warranty is a nice thing to have on something like this.
 
I found it with a little more googling, It looks like a good welder. I have had my eye and that 110/220 combo that they make but just don't have the $$$ right now to buy one.

I seen where it says made in USA so you shouldn't have any problems.
