Holy fawking rain Batman!
Not sure how much we got over night but I have heard neighbors say around 6". I woke up to a utility room full of h20. About a 1/2" over the entire floor. The utility room is on a slab and the water simply came up over it. Mucho amounts of water. Ol' timers tell me they have never seen this much water in Flora. Unreal. They have shut down almost every road in town. Had to take my wife and neighbor to work, water came in the doors of the Jeep. But I made it, and drove right around the stalled cars! Thank you Jeep. I was going to assist them on the return trip, but they had already been taken care of. Oh, and it' still raining. Seems like it's draining down fairly well though.*fingers crossed*

Hmm, we didn't get anything last night. It was actually the first day in a long time without godawful temps too, so I took the canoe out on the Bourbeuse River and caught my first largemouth bass of the season.

I could go into the benefits in detail, but I have a feeling no one cares.

We've had 2 rains like that since spring here. This small town shuts down.

I heard reports of 7" in Flora. The storms were very sporadic, not much rain anywhere else. Big storm went south of us from St. Genevieve over to Ellis Grove. Barely missed us, we haven't had rain in a long time.

I'm gonna say Olney is around 9000 and Noble probably around 1500. Thats just a guess, but I'm sure that is close.

They have grown. I think Olney was down around 4K, and Noble was about 350 - 700 in summer, when the kids came to visit...

Don't suppose you might have heard the name "John Finney" in passing, years ago, would you have? Granted, he answered Final Muster in 1984 or so, but how long have you been there?

I was actually born in Olney but thats only because the Flora hospital is basically a glorified band-aid station. I have been in Flora all of my life, I'm going on 29.

No, Finney dosen't ring a bell. I don't know many from over there at all.

Sounds about right for Flora. I was born in White County Memorial Hospital (Monticello, IN) in 1972 - and it was about the same then. We could probably take one hospital in San Jose and use it to replace both Lafayette Home Hospital and St. Elizabeth, and have enough overflow capacity to replace Arnett Clinic - then we'd have to figure out what everyone else on staff there would do! (I grew up in Lafayette, mostly. Also in Monticello and Monon - I still have family in Monticello, Monon, Yeoman, Gary/Hammond, and Terre Haute...)

I did set the pattern for my generation - I was born in a hospital. My mom and her sibs were getting progressively closer to the hospital each time...

At least there are still some small town left!
