Has anyone gone doorless and made speaker boxes for the area underneath the seat or where your feet are? I am going doorless, but i still want my music! my rear sound bar won't cut it either haha. pics of any doorless and or speaker mods would be great

If I were going to make them I would take my time and make them from some plywood and them cover them in carpet to match the floor. Seems like it would be cheaper and fit better if done correctly.

yeah, i just dont know how i would attach them, did you go door less? also, how is your lift working with your 97, i have a 97 too and im ready to lift 4.5 with 31's

Hmmm... I have no idea how I would attach them. I'll have to think about that.

My Jeep is my DD and since the XJ doors arn't the easiest to remove/put back on, mine are still on. As for my lift, its working great. I had some custom leaf packs made and I'm using Teraflex shackles to get about 2.5-2.75" in the back and I have the JKS ACOS Spacers in the front to level things out. The BDS 5500 shocks seem to be working well and ride nice. The reason I went that route is I wanted to be able to expand upon the lift later and not have to replace the parts I already bought (I guess I will replace the leaf packs and shocks). Also I didn't have the money for an SYE and CV driveshaft so going much higher wasn't possible if I wanted it done right. When I save up some more money the plan is for a 4-6" Long arm lift to be added to it, but college is first! :D

i just threw some 6x9s under the seat and it works for me, not fancy but i need the legroom

I yanked out the rear soundbar from a wrecked cherokee, and put it up right behind the front seats. I pulled the dome light that was in my roof, and used the soundbars light. Just an idea

I did the same thing with a sound bar, but replaced the speakers with better ones. I also mounted 6x9s in the cubby hole 2drs have by the back seat(my back seat is long gone) It all sounds grreat with or with out doors...andy

actually the best thing to make them out of would be fiberglass.thats how you make custom speaker pods.go to the junk yard and pick up some extra kick panels or you can just make your own backing plate .

here are two right ups i found real quick

custom kicks with pics

just a write up

For correct immaging you want the DS speakers to point at the Passengers head, and the PS speakers to point at the Drivers head.

I dont have good qualit pics. I made these for my jeep, Boston pro 3 ways..

Some MTX components in my wifes old car:

The low range always sounds bad because the box is so small, but the immaging is perfect. Though mine include 6.5in drivers Id stick with 5.25 or 4in mid drivers because the limited box size will not produce good sounding lower mids. I had mine crossed over pretty high.

have fun.

ROTFL!

i put some 5x7s in the rear doors, just watch out if you have manual windows, like i do, for the crank cause mine hit the speakers, a smaller speaker would fit better. It is not as nice as a sound bar above the seats or the kick panels but it works for me.

I folded the rear seat down, and ran the $29.99 wal mart 6x9 boxes on the outboard sides of the folded seat back facing forwards/ up. It got the job done. doorless, you'll never have great sound quality but that's the price you pay to play.

I just cut holes in my stock kick panels and put the speakers in...no enclosures. Works fine and my smaller two-way speakers aren't contributing any real bass or deep sound anyway so I'm not overly concerned about having an enclosure.

Here is a pic..

Nice speakers BUT, Tell me more about that cup holder you got there!!

LOL.... Cup holder is some cheapy thing at the local auto parts store that I screwed to the dash. It used to have a clip on top so you could hang it off a door panel or something like that.
