Dont bank at where you have your mortgage from

ok,

I am that way with Wachovia, My friends love them, but since they got bought out by First Union years ago they have been getting worse and worse. Nothing but problems.

I wonder how much of the animosity toward particular banks is du to local/regional policy. Example:
I know and fondly hate BankOne(used to bank with them in Ohio) but have a friend who uses and loves them in LA.
Same thing with Chase. Close friend in Ohio hates 'em. I've heard no complaints from anyone in AZ.

'Nother USAA fan. They won't give me credit for nothing, but I like their banking system. The only irritant is not having any physican branches so I have to mail my deposits.

i have checking, saving, insurance, and my IRA through USAA. My truck loan is thru a small chain bank back home, along with the majority of my paycheck, to yet another bank back home.

i refuse to deal with BOA after they locked my accounts in OIF 1 for 6 months, and couldnt tell me why. they wouldnt give me what was left in my account until i threatened to speak to the bank president.

I dislike Chase because I cannot do allotments through the military towards them, and i hate writing checks and waiting for them to clear.

USAA has been great to me, i keep getting discounts from em, so i cant complain. multi car, checking, savings, ira, etc. . .

I have considered switching to State Farm for my banking, for this reason - I have everything else thru them....but I really love Wells Fargo and have no issues that would warrent a change :)

i've never dealt with wells fargo. had coworkers who had em and liked em, and had coworkers who had em and hated em.

to each their own. eventually i'll switch banks from the bank back home, just havent done it yet.

My home loan is through Wells Fargo. Love them

My first car loan was through Wells Fargo. I hated them

I bank through a credit union and wouldn't have it any other way.

BTW this idea of a bank cleaning out your account is nothing new. If you have a bill collector call and give them electronic access to your checking account, as in an E-Check to pay a late payment, they will completly clean your account out and there is nothing you can do. I judge will just look at it as you owed the money and you had the money sitting there so it's fair game.

It may not be fair but it's the way it works.

Scanned check deposits FTW. :D Check from client, scan with scanner in the office, money shows up in my account. :patriot:

why wouldn't it be fair? If you sign for a loan and promise to pay a certain amount each interval, it's not money that's "just sitting there," it's money with which you failed to fulfill your end of a bargain.

As to the original story, how can you work in real estate and not understand that a volatile industry has highs and lows? Anyone with enough sense to handle other peoples money/ assets should have the forethought to undertake a mortgage that can be afforded in the low times, not the high times. It's people like him, that can't see past the end of their.....er...nose, who are responsible for a lot of the banking and mortgage problems we are experiencing.
