Does anyone know what would have caused my 4 1/2" RE coil springs to zig zag. The top and the bottom of the springs are in line but the middle bows out to the side. Right know it has short arms and 3" spacers, I think. The lift is 10 years old and the spacers are 2 years in place.

They are stock axles that came on the jeep. I bought the jeep new. The springs went south within the last year.

Seems like too much lift from the springs and spacers for the short arms with no drop brackets.

If I understand you correctly, you're essentially running 7.5" of lift up front...... seems like there isn't enough axle travel for the amount of lift the springs are trying to give you. Basically saying that the 4.5" springs are trying to constantly push the jeep higher but the short arms aren't allowing for the correct travel, or even the correct arc of travel - kinda herniating the spine if you will....

When I put the spacers in it only raised the jeep about 1 1/2 inches, so your on the right track. Why I didn't think of that I don't know. Old age? I need to replace my upper control arms and the springs are shot + rear springs, brake lines, front drive shaft, and shocks to match the added lift. I want more lift to clear 33x12.50 tires I'm running 33x10.50s now. I've been thinking of going to a T&T long arm since I have their frame stiffeners and cross member skid plate. The drop brackets would work except I have Comanche frame stiffeners welded on to the original brackets and to the stiffeners. It would only cost $300 or $400 more to do the long arm conversion. Are the long arms worth it? I was going to put my money into Bushwackers before the spring melt down. Any thoughts?

T&T kit is the way I'm going to go. I have 4.5 re superflex kit and 33x12.50 BFGs and want to do the T&T longarm kit with 35s.
O ya the ride difference in the long arm vs the fixed arm setup you got now is like night and day you'll like it a lot and never think you made the wrong choice.
