Ok, I've been doing a lot of self examination lately and a good bit of soul searching. I've had a couple of good friends tell me that I tend to brag a lot and that I come off as cocky to them. Other people that don't know me as well have had mixed reactions to me, and I'm wondering what the general impression of me on the internet is. When I was little I was the shy good little boy that everybody adored and I think it may have gone to my head a little in my adolescense. Be honest, but be fair. Thanks

Edit: BTW, I do realize that I tend to talk about things I'm going to do in the future a lot and I frequently change my mind. This is more like thinking aloud for me than stating actual facts, although some misinterpret this.

P.S. I know this is a totally random thing, but I figure who else will give me a totally honest opinion than a bunch of people I've never met or have only met a handful of times. Thanks again.

Anyone that admits their first real XJ dent was from driving off with their brand new massive home-built tire carrier unlatched can't be all bad... If you'd just quit :bawl: about it... maybe people wouldn't hate you so often?

LOL...do your own thing according to the Ary Plan...you are a smart guy...do the research, follow your heart, don't make excuses.

Aww c'mon woody, my first dent was from a tree in the middle of a stream that I got stuck in because I forgot to disconnect and couldn't get my tires to the ground. How's that for embarrassing

My second and third dents were from a minor wreck, and my fourth was from leaning the Jeep over in a ditch on a coal hill near school. The tire carrier incident was just one of the myriad of dents to follow after all of the previous ones. But thanks for the words. :)

Are you drunk tonight Ary?

ROFLMAO!!

I'm totally sober man. I've been having a lot of issues with my girlfriend/ex-girlfriend(when and where do you draw the line? :dunno: ) lately and it's caused quite a bit of thinking and self-examination. That's all. That combined with a few random comments from good friends has led me to wonder about myself.

Oh, BTW, I'm really not offended by whoever voted that I'm cocky, rude, and self-important. I actually find it funny, I'm just wondering who it was. :anon:

I havn't voted yet.... I usually don't on polls like this ;)

On the GF and buddy thing, just take it with a grain and don't let it get to you. Live your life for yourself and make desicions based on what makes you happy. Up until the time that you have a family to be responsible for, everything is just a learning experience and should be tucked away until later reference in life.

I've been there and done that. Back in the day I was always the 'logical' guy that had his head on straight and it often came off as cocky while everyone else was out doing stupid shit. Many of my 'good' buddies passed judgement that they now look back on in regret.

Hang in there, g-night.

The road to hell is paved with good in-dent-ions..good thing we go off road, then, eh?
Soul searching is fine, as long as you don't paralyze yourself doing the 'what if' thing. Good friends can sometimes provide guideance, like a good spotter should, but in life (if I'm not stretching this anal-ogy too far), YOU are the driver. As for the gf/ex-gf thing, don't ask me. I tossed mine and bought an xj at the tender age of 43..took me a LONG time to get my priorties right..

reminds me of the XJGuy polls on the members board, or at home polls for the Dr. Phil Show. bottom line--> i get tired of hearing people pat themselves on the back, talk about money, talk about religion, and talk about sci-fi stuff. those are the quickest ways to get me away from a person.

do your own thing, just be aware of what your doing. and if your pissing people off then 1 of 2 things will happen. they wont end up hanging around you or you wont end up hanging around them.

in the end
whoof
ucking
cares

My girlfriend's idea: You're an arrogant, moronic, all around stupid guy...Because you go to Tech.

:D

It's all good man, I've never been offended at you, you should try harder :D

You've never seen her about Tech! (She went to UVA, VA Tech is the big rival)

When you hang out with cocky, self-important and rude people on the internet; you think they're going to notice???

My wife thinks I'm cocky, self-important and rude. I thought this was normal.

Actually, I thought you fit in quite well here. If the above is the view point of some specific friends and/or family, you should work on those relationships. Perception is reality. If this is the way they view you, take it as constructive criticism and work on the way you come across to that individual.

Around here, you can still be an ass ;)

I, luckily, don't have this problem. I realize that most of you guys view me as intelligent, kind, sensitive and at the same time strongly masculine and wise. Most of you would love to find a "young MaXJohnson" to date your daughters...

It's at times like this that I am everlastingly grateful that I do not have daughters.

max, I hate to disagree with you publically, but if ary has a problem similar to the above, he needs to realize that THEY'RE the ones with the problem not him!
