Sadly i am no longer employed out her in O.C. So I am probably going to pack up and drive back to Connecticut to stay with some family till I figure out some things.
Problem is that i can not figure out how to get my jeep, myself, and my things(includes a second set of stock tires x5) back there most effectively. What do you all suggest. Maybe I am missing a cheeper way? What do you all think..
1) I rent a trailer ($1,200 from Uhaul 5x8. . .u know of cheeper?) put on my stock tires, put the x5 32 MTRs in the trailer with my things and tow back. Cost about $1000 in gas. so $2,200 + hotels+ food
2) I sell my 32 MTRs and everything that i can't fit in the xj and just drive back on stock tires...but really would like to have a spare tire carrier on the back for my 5th tire. but dont have more than $400 to spend on it. I thought about buying billy's cargo rack and putting the tire there, but wind resistance for 3000 miles and i don't have the $ he is asking for it.
3) I use a cargo shipping for my things that dont fit in the xj at about $500 for 500lbs(you know of cheeper shipping?). . . i would still have to sell one set of tires. at that price may as well buy new ones when i get back. And then drive the xj on stock tires back.
4) I can ship my jeep back for $1,000 on a truck. with the second set of tires inside. Then rent a car for $700 + $700 in gas and drive the rest of my things back. or ship jeep and ship things and then fly.. probably cost 2,200 total.
5) I find someone who has a big driveway and will let me store my vehicle there for 1-2 months while i fly back and figure things out. Hopefully find a way to stay socal. . .
any suggestions? Also part of this is that I really would like a rear tire carrier to free up space inside.
AND...
I have 4 32x11.5 mtr at 30% tread left and 1 that is brand new, all on black steelies.
I have 5 235 75r 15s Bridgestone dueler revos at 75% tread on stock alum rims
I would consider trading all of them for a set of 31s or 32s bfgs that i could then use both street and offroad.
Lots of questions I know..... any suggestions on cheep places to keep my rig for a few months or cheeper shipping options, or tires available, or tire carrier, or cheeper trailers? lol
