DIESEL XJ WANTED IN/OH/KY/MI areas

I'm looking for a good running DIESEL XJ.....4x4...or maybe a 2 wheel drive(if they even made them)....I don't care about the body or the rest of the Jeep. I just want it to run good and I would prefer that the tranny/transfer/axles be in, at least, decent working order. I'm willing to travel some distance from Central Indiana....for the right deal, anyways.

Thanks Kyle.......I've seen that one...it's on the wrong coast for me though:(.....plus....it's a little bit expensive considering that it doesn't run. I'm really just wanting an old rough bodied.....good running XJ with the Factory Diesel
in it.

I just want the stock diesel to be in good running order because I'm thinking about trying to add a turbo to it. I don't think that they had a turbo on them from the factory....did they? That one on Pirate...looks like a transplant from another vehicle to me.

Thanks for steering me towards it though.....I appreciate any and all XJ Diesels that someone points me to.

they did (and they still do) have Turbo. I have '87 / with 2.1 TD engine made by Renault. It is weak engine (85hp), so at highway you can't go really fast. Other than that it has great mileage.

However .. not that I'm on the wrong coast, but I'm on the wrong continent (-: (Europe).
 
Mr W...I've read about the overseas models...having the turbos...but I didn't think they were ever offered here in the states...on the XJ...if I'm wrong...somebody please let me know. Someday...I'll venture overseas to do some unaturally aspirated XJ scouting with intentions of bringing one home...lol

I think turbo was factory standard with diesel engines in XJ-s.

Now, intercooler would be an interesting addon there.. at least for 2.1L engine.
 
I didn't realize that they were turbo'd.....that's cool though...because if they're turbo'd I know a guy in Southern Indiana...that can improve almost any turbo set-up that he's ever seen. He worked for Cummins for over 30-35 years...and he has an awesome air conditioned machine shop....within his shop by his house. I'd love to get me a TD for my XJ....or for the MJ that I'm going after tomorrow.

Same motor was available on the MJ also.

You may want to look in Canada, When I was looking for a Diesel project, I found about 3 times as many up there as anywhere else.
