Dicks Divorce Causing XJ Build

well the pick a part wants 2 and a half for the 8.25. ima check with some friends on it first before i head out there.

thats a good tools list. thanks. thankfully i have all that haha. we'll see tho. i dont wanna pay 250 for the rear axle.

Good lord... if it wasn't a ten hour drive I'd say you should head up here and pay 130 instead (Sam's recently raised their prices, once in a while they give me a break and charge me 100 instead though.)

Check around. There may be other pull a parts further away that charge less.

ill be on the lookout for the xj 44 or the 8.25. ive got some time before i get my bonus. im pretty pissed too. i was supposed to get all my bonus in 3 weeks, and i was gonna pick up a buddies xk. its a 95 with a bunch of stuff. front winch bumper, winch, rear bumper, boatsides, 8.25(29 spline), ausie for the 30 up front, 33 mtz's(i think), mickey classics, ton of spare parts including aw4 and doors(half doors FTW) and axles etc. i was gonna go pick it up in a few weeks, but i dont think im gonna have the cash in time now. we'll see as thats on the table if i get my bonus in time.

as for tires. theres not many 33x10.50's out there. interco seems to make a lot of them and their on the slow for production as we all know. we'll see how things go, as i might get the 34x10.50 ltb and call it a day. just depends on which way i decide to go, as i am still going back and forth right now. im set on the 4.5 re lift from 4x4groupbuy cause they give you shocks where places like 4wd dont. but im deciding on the tires, based on the money difference. so im not sure. if i go 31's i can get everything for under 2k. if i go bigger im going over the 2k mark and its a mental block. i need to just be patient and see how much i bonus this month. if i do well, and by that i mean triple what im at now, then ill be more apt to get the bigger tires. so we'll see.

im surprised i dont see more on the marketplace forum with things for sale.

you can get the coopers in a 33x10.5, and the km2's and a couple others i had been looking at. you just have to search for it. you might also consider metric sized tires (i recently picked up a set of 265x70x17 and they measure out at 31.5 so they would be classified like a 32 and 9.5 wide)

ok. i know im gonna sound like a fool here for changing my mind so much. buuuut. i might blow my budget away and do something fun.

i know its rough country, but i was curious if i can get yalls opinion on this lift. 1400 for a long arm kit with a SYE. good deal. but is their quality ok?

steer clear of the add-a-leafs, but by the 1400 price tag im guessing your a springing (no pun intended) for the full leafs

haha word. full leafs. mine are so sagged now that a spare tire makes it where there is no room between the tire and wheel well. and i almost mean that quite literally.

so full leafs it is. also, with the SYE, do i need a different driveshaft?

ok. before i change my mind, im putting up what im going with. its doable with my 2500 budget, and even comes in about $75 lower. thattl go towards the bumper.

ok so that RC 4.5 LA kit with the SYE. 32" mtr kevlar's(both of these from 4x4groupbuy.com, which i found from this website so thatnks haha) with the $42 soft 8's from summit. grand total with all shippinf is $2447 and some change. with the $115 bumper from 4wd ill be ready to roll. im pretty f'n excited.

you will need a new driveshaft you can measure the length after the sye is installed and call up tom woods or you can search the internet and figure out a factory front shaft to use in the rear

that's good to know. Can I have a locan driveshaft shop mate two together? Or are they different widths? The front and rears I mean

Technically, you can just take a stock front shaft to a driveshaft shop and get them to add a few inches. Install the SYE, then measure yolk to yolk to see how much length you need to add.

As for getting the RE 3.5" instead of the 4.5", the bigger lift adds a trackbar and adjustable upper control arms. Definitely stuff you want with a 4.5" lift and all the other crap you're getting.

Throw an Aussie locker in the front. Mine is great.

Definitely go for the 8.25 rear axle, and try to avoid paying more than $100 for it...watch craigslist and traders guide. I have a welded 8.25 in my beater XJ with 33x12.50 swampers and I haven't broken it yet. I'm sure I would have grenaded a Dana 35 by now.

And as for the driveshaft modding, there are a few local shops in PGH that can do it.

haha thanks. sunburned, thanks for the heads up. i didnt think about that. im glad i decided to go with the rc 4.5 la kit. should cover that

i was thinking about it. i dont plan on going much bigger in tire, so im sure it will work. and i drive pretty easy so thats good too. ill probably end up open wheeling it for a while. and unless i find an axle soon, i will end up keeping the 35. i do, however, have a few calls out for some axles on parted out jeeps. we'll see if theyre 8.25's. and if one guy i know from another site ends up parting his rig, ill for sure have one.

theres just so many variables right now it pisses me off. whens my bonus coming, will i find a 44 or 8.25 in time for the lift. how big of tires. what lift. which bumpers. how do i wanna do the floors. i mean its annoying me right now. i need some holes patched in the floor too. i can do some of the bigger holes with just getting a new floor and set screwing it, then sealing it and painting it. but the back has some small holes i cant fill. and i dont have a welder.

yeah. im thinking i might set screw everything for now, then get a welder later. the holes from the set screws will help with the penetration later on anyways.
