You mean you want to do someting RATHER than replace them or cover or ideas on HOW to do either one? Clarify or better grammer please. Not trying to be an ass.
Are those welded on or just rivited? I have seen a few that have actually replaced the stock metal with diamond plate. Looks good and seems like it works good. J/W
I've seen those in prefabbed kits. My concern is where I live any metal you cover doesnt stand up to road salt and sand. It rusts away behind the cover in no time. Suppose if I sealed it completely that "might" work. Dunno.
edited: looks like it goes down to the rocker panel but cant tell if they cover them?

Same issue here, plus I used to live right along the ocean...salt air, beach running and whenever we had a storm surge, you drove through streets flooded with salt water.
Rust is an issue. Cover it, and it's a hidden issue.
These are like what I intend to do. Cut out that rotten sheet metal, clean it up, apply some POR15, and replace that sheetmetal rocker with some square tube steel.
Say goodbye to rust...at least for a little while.
I found a post on here where andrew2516 used a Dodge tail gate cap for rocker protection on his XJ rockers. Its only alum. so its not really any protection, but it made a dandy rocker cover if yours are rotted!! I decided to try it for myself. My rockers where better than most, but if I hadent tackled this when I did, it would only have been a short time until cancer took them entirely. Overall I think it came out pretty good!! Here is the DeeZee part numbers:
Heres how they look Finished and attached to my MJ:
