My Heep we replaced the broken idler pulley, installed a new temp sensor, and loomed up all the exposed wires from my fan.

ON Wills heep we replaced a u-joint using nothign more then a hammer, 17 mm socket, a c clamp and Chia power.

I would think a press or vise is normal for such as task....perhaps we didn't improvise at all. We would have been done a lot sooner but chia couldn't figure out how to route his belt :banghead:

I spent the better part of 3 hours at a junkyard trying to get an 8.8 flange off a ranger. first, the bolts on the flange were super stuck and when we were loosening them we were actually turnng over the motor!!! zero progress, we had to jam a rod between the u joint and a leaf spring. then trying to get a u-joint out of an 80 something ranger without a big hammer was no fun. We ended up pulling a 2" hitch insert with the ball still on it off my cousins jeep and beating it out with that.

This is why im not making barnwell, it took too long and there were too many beer in the celebration after we got it out.

You're using the 8.8 from a Ranger?

Ummm.....not trying to discourage, but please read here before installing on the XJ. Just trying to help man.

Talking like you know what that post means you newb! :laugh3:

I know enough not to put a Ranger rear end under my XJ. :jester:

Yea, luckily so do I. It's an 8.8 out of a 97 exploder with LSD and discs, it also had 3.73s when i found it. the flange holding the u-joint does not mate with the XJ u-joint. BUT a ranger flange does. MORE sells the same thing for $40 i got that and some brake line for $20.

You too better stop it or I'll start clicking this fancy new infraction button to see what it does!
