Decide for yourself...

There's so many problems with this engagement.
They had LTL in the pipe but didn't use it.
They clearly weren't on the same page with that bean bag or stun grenade and left the k-9 handler in a bad spot. (wtf was he doing approaching)
They would of been justified if they engaged while he was facing them waving the knife. (still sad because they put him in that position he grabbed the knife when a grenade went off and an angry dog charged at him.)

They were not justified to engage after he turned around, that's murder.

They don't wait for a reaction for anything they do. If they did maybe this guy wouldn't be dead, instead they put him on his instincts trying to protect himself. This would also keep them from shooting a dead guy with LTL 5 times.
They fail to utilize their LTL and violence of action, due in part to either bad training or communication and possibly rough terrain.

It's worse in LA County, they fire about 150 rounds at 2 old ladies in a Chevy pick up and only hit twice, looking for a big black guy. How's that for target acquisition and identification? :roflmao::moon:

The pickup wasn't even the same make or color on that and they got off...
they fired 150 rounds on a completely random vehicle.

it still sounds like important facts are missing. without actual video and audio you dont know for sure what really happened there. was he suspected of anything besides just camping?? that sure is alot of PD response for a seemingly minor infraction.
was he known by the local PD and had a history of trouble?
from the little information in the article is "sounds" unjustified, and maybe it really was. but having been in law enforcement and been in split-second decision situations, i refuse to vilify the PD, nor will i make this poor camper a martyr based on so little information.
if the camper was wrong, he may very well have gotten whats coming to him. if the PD is wrong, i hope the investigation is handled by someone with some integrity in hopes that justice is had, one way or the other.
it's obvious there is information missing here...

Why did they not fall back as he moved down the hill, so they could take him into custody on level ground?

Why did they send the dog on him?

Why did they fire the shock grenade?

Did he produce a firearm after the shock grenade was fired, resulting in their need fire on him in self-defense?

Is there something going on with this individual that doesn't show up on film?

I don't understand the threat that this individual posed, which resulted in the LEO's opening fire and this senseless loss of life.

I'm not vilifying the LEO's, just not making sense of this situation. I have several friends who are LEO's, one who took multiple rounds in drug-raid turned fire fight which resulted in his partner getting killed.

He pulled knives after the grenade/dog.

without actual video and audio

Did you click the link?
The guy is complying when they throw the flashbang.
He also wasn't shot until he was trying to get away from aggressors and their dog.

Which is probably what anyone would do in that circumstance.

Well maybe but it was instinctual and they put him there even though he was complying.

Him walking away was probably his mind catching up to the situation when he gets shot in the back of the head.

When you grow up doing things that arent immoral, yet somehow illegal, you learn the police are not your friends. They will lie, cheat, steal, and worse than anything else, you cannot fight back.

It is HILARIOUS hearing older white males getting outraged at police brutality these days, there is absolutely nothing the police could do that would shock me at this point.

They are the biggest street gang in america, pure and simple.

correct :bunny:

I've been arrested for a victimless "felony" before, luckily I got off but it's amazing not hurting anyone but offending someone's idea of morality can screw the rest of your life over.

Interesting rationalization and generalization. Immoral VS Illegal? Cops don't enforce morals, they enforce laws. It's the responsibility of the citizen to know the laws and live within the boundaries, or expect the appropriate consequences.

And what does age or skin color have to do with recognition of police brutality?

I was taught to obey the laws of the land and expect to get punished if caught violating them. Fortunately I learned my lesson quickly, after a brush with the law after playing with matches in my neighbors back yard at age 10.

A late night trip to the police dept and sitting in an empty jail cell while they discussed options with my father did the trick for me.....followed up by my dad's boot in my ass when we got home.

The case here appears to be excessive use of force resulting in death.

Anyone else wonder how/why the video wound up in the hands of the press so quickly after the incident?

So you violated no law, yet still got arrested? You imply the charges were dropped, to how did this screw over you future?

XJEEPER, I respect you for your detail in your build thread. Now I respect you more for those replies.
