I have sold several for $350, back when I was able to get them out of the local PAP for around $125.....they're asking closer to $200 these days.
Crawling around in the heat and dirt at the JY isn't something everyone is willing to do.
Try picking up one from a Jeep specific wrecking yard then, you'll see that $450 isn't really all that outrageous

Honestly, even 300 seems high for a part pulled from a JY that would charge you 200 and you could drop yourself in ~15 minutes in most cases... but to each their own

Indeed... 4 driveline bolts 4 u bolts and either cut or keep the e brake cables...it takes more time to find a 44 than lt does to remove it

you hit the nail right there. yes they are out there. and yes they are easy to remove. but getting to the yard and removing it before someone else does is not that easy. if you have the time to keep checking yards and getting there early, especially during the week, then you most likely dont have a problem getting one. but not everyone can. they have jobs so they can pay the rent/mortgage, utility bills, food bills, ect. do i think they are worth $400? would i pay $400 for a D44? probably not. but only because i had the help from a very nice member on here to help me get one when it came to surface. if you folks think they are that easy to find and pull out, and want the price to stay low, why not just go out and get them and sell them on here for cheap.

If I ever needed a Dana 44 I know where I can find one with 4.56's and a Aussie locker... I would even salvage 2 harbor freight jacks for this axle
