i'm building an s10 and performing a sas using jeep axles. was wondering if there is a carrier break on the dana 35? and also wondering if axles out of a tj 35 are the same as a yj 35? thanks for helping on my chevy/jeep hybrid project.

IF you are doing a SAS, you are most likely looking for a Dana 30

Dana 30 = front axle, pretty good little guy

Dana 35 = rear axle, weak pos. Although its a toss up on whether it sucks more than a chevy 10 bolt. I am gonna say the 35 wins the suck by a nose.

Not sure, but there is no carrier break on an 8.25 (at least not in the range we care about, it's somewhere down around 2.x), if you end up having to buy a carrier for the 35, that's like 50-60 bucks, you are halfway to buying a better axle that doesn't require you to buy a carrier.

i know the 35 isnt the best axle to use, but i have it, and there are plenty of parts out there new and used for decent prices if it breaks. i looked on randy's ring and pinion website, and found the break is 3.31/3.55, so just have to find one with 3.55's or better. for the front, i plan to use a yj disco 30, mainly to keep the 4wd functioning properly. does anyone here know if the np233 in the s10 (electric shift) is affected when the front driveshaft spins constantly like a 231 in a jeep? this is my reason behind using a disco housing. thanks
