Ok Ive got a Dana 300 trans case I want to no will it bolt right up to my transmission or do i have to buy an adapter i have a 1990 jeep cherokee with the 4.0l and the automatic

i believe you need a flip kit. but i could be wrong.

You'll probably need at least a clocking ring, and probably a flip kit depending on how you want to run it. Might require some floor notching and crossmember shenanigans too.

What's wrong with the NP2xx in the jeep?

well i bought the jeep and the kid didnt no shit about jeeps and tried to do the sye kit him self and i took the tans case out because it was not going into 4wd and fucking like everything was broke i couldnt believe i could still move forward and back

where can i find a cloaking ring do i need the flip kit if i am going to run chevy full size axles cause they are passenger side drop like the dana 300 and np231 is driver

If you're doing the NP231 doubler kit then you don't need to do any adapting at all. It'll bolt right in place of what you have. If you run a passenger drop axle it's even easier except you'll definitely have to modify the floor a lot.

This is mine with that same setup installed:

Originally I made this cover for it:

however I got sick of trying to deal with patching the trans tunnel up, and had some other things I wanted to do with it, so I just decided to start over and make a new one.

Length? As in, the short vs. long housing?

The only thing that changes is the rear output housing, the rest of the case is the same. I used the long one, and you pretty much have to use that one if you plan on using a speedometer sender with it. The speedometer sender from the NP231 swaps right in and works fine.

If you're worried about driveshaft length/angle, don't ask me. My wheelbase is stretched about 8" longer than stock and the NV4500 transmission throws anything else off. There are a few other guys on here running the doubler setup (BRIANHO13 I think) that could probably give you a better idea on the driveshaft length.

if u want to do the double t case with a driver side pumkin would u have to get a flip kit? im just curious becaue i have a d300 that a friend gave to me and its sitting in my garage taking up room.

I did the doubler with the 300. all you have to do is elongate a couple of the mounting holes in the tranny.

You have one, or you just bought one on eBay? :D May as well stick with eBay for your doubler and get the 4x4 Machine. The pirate guys seem happy with him and it sure takes a lot to keep them out of flame mode.

Yes, but do a lot of research on Dana 300 flip kits. There are a lot of cheaper ways to do it and some of them seem to be working fine including one from that same 4x4 Machine guy using sticks that bend around the driveshaft.

I have done the 231/300 from D.D Machine (4X4 Machine) http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=451754
I had to flip the 231 to pass side drop and flipped the 300 to driver side drop. Used D.D. Machine flip sticks, stock lever with a cable to the 231. Be prepared to do some floor work and have some thing to carry the weight of the 300.

I'd like to see pictures of your lever/cable setup if you have any!

At this point I'm thinking that this is probably overrated.

I'd like to see what you did though.

I have the TnT long arm for the np242. So I used the drop part of the skid. Not sure how much it carries but has to carry something. Just a bolt through the skid, then a poly bushing, angle iron bolted to the bottom bolt of the t-case.

Only have a couple of pics. I first used a B&M cable from Summit Racing. But it is a solid core cable which broke after a couple of test tries. I then went to a rigging company I use to work for. They made me a much better stranded cable for the same price as B&M's cable.
This is the cable from Summit. I used the 4' one

Here are pics of how I attached to the shift lever and t-case lever.

I just looped the cable to the top of the tranny and zip tied it to the wire bracket that holds the knock down cable.

Very nice! Thanks for posting that!
