D44 What years

:anon: Sorry for the repeat post probably, I did a quick search & couldn't come up with anything in the last 20 min so I 'll do the next easiest thing, ASK
What years of XJ's came with a D44 in rear ? I'm looking to buy a project jeep to abuse. THanks :wow:

Most common year is the '87, but I think they were available for a few years after that ('88 and '89, maybe?).

I have a 1987 that has a Dana 44. I forgot the years that had them but try doing a search on Danna 44 and see what you get. Good Luck Terry

My 96 has one! Oh wait...you just want to know stock - that would be 87s (mostly w/tow package) and some rarely-seen 88s and 89s. It's not a common axle under the 87, and as rare as hen's teeth under the later years. Of course, they come up in the 'For Sale' section fairly regularly.

My 89 Comanche has a D44 but it also has the tow package as mentioned earlier.
