Hey ya'll. I have some 2.25" coil spacers and would like to trim them to about 1.25". Has anyone done this? Looking for some ideas on the best method to do it. i.e. How did the hold it, what was used to chop it, how did they control the thickness etc. Any help would be much appreciated.

make friends with some one with a band saw...

How about a belt sander? It would keep things level and take a little longer but i think you would be more satisfied with the results. then again if it was me i would just get another set of spacers and either sell those or keep them on the shelf

you guys aren't getting the point that he just wants to destroy something. take it to a karate school and have someone chop it in half for you. that seems fail safe?!......

Yeah, I thought this was NAXJA...not the home shopping network. Let's put it this way, I'd rather spend 10 hours and $200 making these work than spend $50 on new ones. Now get cracking on some good ideas! So far the best one was the Karate idea.

Ginsu knife.

Some sort of plastic eating bacteria.

Acid dip.

Snapping turtle or shark.

Stand it up on a RR track, let the train wheel slice it.

(For liability purposes, the above suggestions are meant as a joke and are not to be taken seriously.)

What? is that extra inch skeery??? A good pit bull could chew them down quick.

Did it recently, as I wanted to finish the job same-day.... Held the 1.75" spacers in a vice. Had a guide-line via masking tape. Used a mitre saw (with the stiff blade, having reinforcement at top...). No problem, just keep it straight. Keeping the originial bottom/outside conical section to receive the spring, you WILL want to re-create the conical taper inside the top opening for proper sit against the body - Used a wide box-cutter knife... Tough stuff, so be careful and use a sharp blade. I reduced mine to 5/16"-3/8" thickness, and it worked fine.

That said, if you can...BUY THE RIGHT ONE AHEAD OF TIME...:)
