im getting ready to get some subs for my jeep. I am going to be building some custom boxes. I know that it is probably best to make them out of mdf but what is the down side of using , plywood or maybe wafer board. Sound quality or just box quality in general. Thanks

The denser the wood the better. Stick with mdf. Plywood has a funky sound to it when it resonates, mdf is much stronger and dure to how its made, produces better bass. All my stuff is a combination of mdf/ fiberglass. Plus over time the mdf will outlast the plyboard. Also mdf is easier to work with and glues/screws together a lot better. Fiberglass...well their are tons of possibilities but it takes a lot of skill to use. Also combination mdf/ plexiglass works good. But depending on the window size, the thickness of the plexi could have to be up to 1" thick...bout 200$ for just a 12"x 24" piece- well hope that helps
