Custom Forged Pistons

Well, I'm getting ready for the winter projects already. Started gathering up parts to build up my RENIX based stroker. I have chosen to go the long rod route. Just because I can dial in the Quench and CR.

Right now I'm looking at the following:
258 Crank
Recon 4.0l Rods
Custom Pistons (undetermined at this point)
Melling high-volume oil pump
Cloyes Double Roller Timing set
Mopar performance Valve springs,locks,retainers
Performance Cam (undetermined at this point)

I haven't seen too many people using the JRE pistons and wondering what makes them different than the Accurate power..

JRE is available in .030 - .060 overbore with 0- 30 cc dish and has 4340 Press fit pins, Ross Racing Moly Rings included. For $550

While your Accuate Power comes in a .030 over bore with a 23cc dish and comes with pins. Rings are seperate. For $600

Does anyone know of a significate differance between the two?

Have you thought about KB Hyper pistons? I run them in my 289 with 10.2:1 and 150HP shot of NOS. They are great pistons. They also come in many flavors. I'm not sure if they make a set that will work in a Stroker application but they may and I'm sure they would be much less than forged.

I know that JRE use Ross pistons but I don't know which ones Accurate use. Maybe Wiseco? Ross? I know it's not Venolias, and I also know that Mike at Accurate has run out of Eagle rods (Eagle have stopped making them).
No doubt Mike will chime in and update us on which pistons he has.

I won't be chiming in with who's pistons I use. Because someone will just step-in and whore things up (like had happened with Venolia). I don't know much about JRE, other than, they cloned my website, knocked a few bucks off of all of my prices, added a few HP to any dyno figure that I may have quoted and some people respect them for that. "Not I", said the Rabbit. My current piston was designed using stroker pistons that had been run to failure. Every possible aspect was covered to make them specific to our application. They were not designed by doing math and speculating how the end product would actually hold up in use. I like them. MIKE
PS. I stock .030" & .060" with 23cc dishes. I can get any size or dish volume that you could want.
