Cracked

A few months ago I went to look at new cars, this this happened.

So today I finally got around to tearing it apart to fix and this is what I found.

It is cracked in the bolt threads in 3 places then a good 2 inch crack in the back half of the case its self. Alos all of the tabs that hold the pump in place are broken off.

The DS let loose off of the axle while driving down the road.

ugly, downside to a sye. The shaft mash anything else of importance while flailing?

It messed up my second set of girdles to hold the DS to the axle.

just happened to my brother due to axle wrap from lift blocks,weak leaf springs and time. It cost him a new shaft, a muffler and tailpipe, and a new pinion yoke. (no sye).

A np 231, I have one lined up with 500 miles on it and a bent out put shaft. Will go good with my SYE kit. I could probly use a spare DS if it can be used with a sye.

NP231s are not very light.
