Hi all,
My internet house hunting days are coming to an end. My wife and I will be in Colorado Springs for 2 weeks starting Feb 22 - Mar 7 looking at houses. We having been living in Germany for almost 5 years and I have only been back to the states once since I have been here. My wife will also be looking at nursing (LPN) jobs and I have no clue what kind of job I want. I still don't know if I am going to re-enlist in the army.

I was just wondering if there are any meetings or club rides going on during that time frame. I would like to meet a few members and get some info and low down on the area while we are visiting.

Thanks,

Rob,

Man, you'll JUST miss our first quarter meeting. It's on Saturday the 18th. If there's any chance you'll be able to be here sooner, let us know - the 'Springs guys are a great group and would certainly be able to meet ya and get ya to the meeting.

I wish I could come out a little sooner, unfortunately the army is not very flexible when it comes to taking leave. Perhaps while my wife and I are there we could meet a couple members for a meal or something. I look forward to becoming a Colorado resident. I know locals are getting tired of transplants, but at least we are not from Cali.

Thanks,

Thats a damn good start :D. Welcome to the Springs. There's quite a few of us here.We dont have any trail runs planned- yet.Feel free to get in touch with us when you get here.Other than traffic I'm sure you're going to love living here.Been here almost all of my life and dont want to live anywhere else.

What Jeff said, Oh yeah ,re-up ??? I don't think so, cuts into wheeling time :D

Or you could just retire... ;) Can't say welcome to the Springs, but welcome to the Rockies!

When do you move out of Germany for good? We'll have plenty of wheelin to do as the snow melts this spring and summer.

I just arrived in CS last night. It sure is weird being back in the states. The Dallas airport was loud and everyone is in such a hurry. I have grown accustomed to the nice layed back pace in Germany. It is also strange to here everyone speak english again. I actually don't know much german because most of them speak some english, but they don't speak english until I butcher their language.

I will be moving from germany by the beginning of April, I don't know the exact day I be in CS yet because I have a lot of stuff to do in Florida. I am still figuring out what to do with a non-emission complaint 90 Mustang 5.0. I may keep it register in Florida as long as I can.

My wife and I are meeting with a realtor and looking at houses in various areas in the greater CS. We are ot set on a specific location. We are looking at anything from 5 acres in Peyton, to .3 acres in Briargate, and also looking in Fountain area, Black Forest and Woodland Park. A couple of the places have 3 car Garages, and then some have the land for building extra work areas.

We are also looking for jobs. My wife is a LPN nurse with 3 more classes to finish so she can go for her RN. The only problem is she needs to take the 60 hour IV course because her old Florida LPN license only required a 30 hour course. I have no clue what I want to do, I may fall back on my auto mechanic skills, or I may try something with my secret security clearance from the army, or I may try something with my BA in economics and get into some entry level management position. Who knows?

We would like to learn more about the area, so any useful tips would be appreciated. Like:

Good places to eat
where to shop
Good junk yards
bad areas to watch out for
Speed traps
where to MTB
and anything else helpful

Thanks,
Rob

Timing this came up again, I've been watching your other posts about moving to CO as my girlfriend and I are taking the dive and doing the same in mid April as well. Going to be Denver or Colorado springs depending on where we find jobs. The springs is were we would rather be but that whole job/money thing.. I'm in IT and she is an RN. Figure we can find something.

Good luck with your search and look forward to meeting all of you colorado jeepers too! P.S. we too are not from Cali :laugh3:

xjmatt,
my wife knows Denver has a lot of nursing jobs. Back in Germany she talked to a former HR person who use to work at a nurse staffing agency in Denver/Parker area. She says nurses can easliy make six figures if they want to work. Denver has signing bonuses and other good bonuses for nurses. My wife and I just don't want to be in the big city. CS is big enough for us.

Good luck with your move too.

Rob
