Oh yeah I pulled that panel and mounted my fire extinguisher. I wanted to mount it up front but I couldn't find a place that didn't interfere with the seat movement or my legs/feet when using the pedals.
You should put that fire extinguisher up front where it will actually be useful. There's a nice write-up in the FAQ & Write-up forum that gives some dimensions to make a mounting plate and attach it to the forward two seat bolts. I'm 6'6" and it doesn't interfere with my legs or seat movement on my late model. If you don't want to go that route, you can also remove the plastic trim piece around the seat adjuster and just drop in the extinguisher there.
edit: i have a white Kiddie 2.5lbs extinguisher so the dimensions might be different than yours.
I'm short so the seat has to be pretty far forward. I tried to fit it under the front of the seat but it interferes with the seat adjustment lever. I'd prefer to not have to remove trim to mount it. Yes I'd prefer to have it up front where I can reach it but I'm not willing to be kicking it everytime I get in and out, or hacking out/deleting trim to make it fit.
Really need to get the rear swaybar removed and get the front disconnects put together.
Forgot how comfortable sleeping in the back of these things are for a short mofo like me. Got the tent bags mixed up and grabbed the wrong poles. I grabed the small tent and the big tent poles so in the Jeep for me.
