Colorado Trail Race 2008

I've been training for this race since June. It's the real reason why I haven't been fishing. I've been keeping it on the down low because I was waiting for some sponsorship stuff to come through and 2 big pieces of the puzzle fell into place today. I have been hooked up with a shop that I used to race cross country mountain bikes for along with Felt bicycle company. I thought this would be a cool way to make a difference in the bigger scheme of things. I know it's cliche but we've probably all been affected by cancer. Today I was also sponsored by the Lance Armstrong Foundation and so I will be attempting to raise money for cancer research. I thought I'd put up the link to my website in case anyone's interested. You can learn more about the race and get involved if you choose to do so. Thanks for letting me put this up DJ and if it becomes a problem please let me know.

Well if you wanna really raise some serious funds Chris, just hold a bake sale....... :D

Dang Criss I had you pegged for a scrawney little twerp! I had an expert licence in the NBL for 3 years when I was young and got 2nd place at the world cup of BMX in Clevland Ohio in 1981. I still was in novice class. Racing rules and I think my best day was a 1st in open class and 2nd in my class race on an event we donated all the prize money to the Race for Life foundation. Kinda gives you an extra little push knowing that your race results will actually help sombody in need! Good for you and keep us posted. Hope the donation helps.

Naw man...I'm huge. That's why I live up here. Not enough room down in Springs.

Actually I am a scrawny little twerp. NBL and ABA guys were always much bigger. They're sprinters really and whether it's BMX, road races, or track...the good sprinters are generally pretty well put together. At 6' 155lbs...I'm a climber. I'm very comfortable when the terrain goes up. I prefer that actually. I ended my cross country "career" with Schwinn but I've never done anything like this so it should be ummm...interesting. And painful.

I appreciate the donation Mike. Every one helps. I've been sending out tons of emails but I don't really know anyone else. I've posted it on numerous forums but I'm only going to get so much out of that. I need to find other ways to drum up donations. I'm thinking about getting business cards printed up that simply say my name and then have the website on it and giving them out at Safeway and other places. My students will help with that kind of thing if I provide pizza. Other than that I don't know what I'll do.

Well some changes have happened and I'm super excited about them. Orbea will now be my bike sponsor along with the fine folks at Ghisallo Sports in St. Louis, Missouri. With their help, this is what I'll be on:

I'm not really into this sort of thing but I put this site together to give those that are helping me some public recognition and allow those interested to keep tabs on things. Starting to get excited about this but sick of riding in snow.

To many sunburned summers riding in Bicycle Tour of CO to want to participate in another. Still awesome your doing it.

We road tripped to St. Louis this week to see old friends and pick up my new Orbea mountain bike. I've thanked them a million times already this week but I'll make another public thank you right here to Devlin, Anthony, Mitch, Sparky, Olivia, and...most of all...my dear friend Tim and his lovely wife Deanna for all their support and help in preparing for this race. This whole thing has been simply unbelievable.

I know that not everyone is into bikes here but we can all appreciate technology and I'm super impressed with this thing and wanted to share the pics.

This down tube is ridiculously built. It's concave and has a small lip on each side. I think most people have the misconception that Orbea fabbed this with the intent to make it serve as a fender of sorts but, in reality, carbon is very succeptible to damage from rocks being kicked up from the front tire and this curve + the dual lips really reinforces this area. I went one step further and wrapped it with some crazy tape that my buddy Tim had that is used in the aviation industry.

These seat stays are actually diamond shaped.

This frame weighed 2.97 lbs in a 20" and the entire build as show here was 24.86 lbs.
