Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I had to run a quick errand last night so I decided to take the 2011 Subaru because well....the heated seats make me feel good. I get home, pull in the driveway and then get in the zone to watch The Wire (decided to start all over again cuz it's so good). A car comes creeeeeping up my street. I hate that. Then I notice the 2011 is no longer in the driveway but all the way out in the street. I go running outside to see that the car slid all the way down the driveway because of the ice and damn near went into the creek. Thankfully it hit a patch of pavement that allowed for just enough grip. It was kinda funny only because it didn't end up in the ditch.

I had this happen, a very long time ago, with the '79 Mustang. At the end of a party at a friends house went out to get in the car and found it down the street about half a block. Might say things were a bit slick... I was just happy it didn't hit any cars along the way.

Made for an interesting drive home as, here in the Springs, the official snow removal plan is, apparently, "God put it there, he can make it go away"...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Do we even own snow plows in the springs?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

One more night of work then 5 days off. Take that back, 4 days off gonna waste a day recovering from New Year's Eve assumed hangover. Maybe I will get my doors wired this week, maybe.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

30 on 18 off 31 on. About to start a 7 off before another 30on to finish the month. I would say 'woot' or some other expression of excitement but really I'm too tired to.

Sounds like my buddy's schedule. He has like 4 days on, 2 days off, then 5 days on, then 1 day off, then 6 days on and 7 days off. Funky schedule for sho.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

You gonna be around this week? Love to stop by and check out the build.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

When I was at Intel, we worked compressed weeks. 12 hour days, 4 on three off followed by 3 on and 4 off. you really came to look forward to the short weeks...

Of all the schedules I have worked, this was my favourite. A "long" weekend every other week.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yea, i woudn't have minded that schedule either.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I work 4-10hr days with 3 days off every week. Once a month I have to work through the weekend because of drill (my job requires I be in the National Guard) but its still pretty nice. When the government shut down I almost took on a job driving a winch truck for an oil rig company and would've actually made a little more money. I really wasn't thrilled about the work schedule though. 60-70hrs a week almost every week, yuck. I'm glad I went back to work when I did. The overtime would've been nice but the lack of days off would've sucked.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'd love a 4 on 3 off 10 hour day type setup. Once I get in "the zone" engineering wise it's hard to stop me, I've worked till 9pm before just because I was on a roll, then came in late the next day and did it again.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Pretty much all fabs work compressed shifts. It's not bad if it's a day shift, but working graveyard, even if you are a nightowl like I am, you end up sleeping most of the long weekends. It's okay if you are single, but M. W. C., not so much.

That's exactly what I do on my weekends for the most part, I call it zombie mode.

I call this pic......."Taint Fishin'"

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I want you to take a good long look at your life without an River in it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That should have been "any".

Re: The Colorado BS thread
