Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My question is, what kind of sick asshole actually picks up huge spiders and then proceeds to take pictures of them.
Probly the same kind of sick asshole who finds a rattlesnake in his back yard, and runs for a camera. :D

I'll be grandfathered in so no such worries. I also have nothing offensive either. I've been down the tattoo road before. There is a lot of stuff starting to come into works. Basically the Army is downsizing. Part of that means they're trying to get back to being ultra-professional and thin the ranks of a lot of less than desirable soldiers they've allowed in due to difficulty recruiting during our years in operation over seas.

Don't get me wrong though, the countdown to retirement is on the wall. I've got just under 8 years left. 7 years and 9 months to be exact.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

you callin yourself an undesirable? Man, your employer sucks. ;)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

This is always the case when a war winds down. One thing that has not changed, at all, is the disabled getting tossed out on their ears without any benefits.

Happened to me (Vietnam) and it is happening now. I fought with the VA for the better part of 10 years without any success. And now... If I had had access to treatment then, I would not in in nearly as bad a shape as I am now.

This country has a long history of dumping it's Wounded Warriors. They are looked down upon as just an expense to be avoided.

Quoting myself for troof... My Dad's (WWII vet) VA experiences were similar before he passed away.

Nope, I joined before Sept 11 and all the recruitment scrambling causes by a prolonged conflict.

The main thing I'm looking forward to is basic training getting back to how it used to be. The quality if new soldiers has declined drastically in the last 8 years.

That's cool. Some if those are really well done too.

I'm not agreeing with the new Army philosophy on tattoo's, I personally feel its outdated and stupid. Tattoo's have become such a widespread and accepted part of modern culture that its going to be hard to keep such a rule enforced. I see nothing wrong with, and agree with, the current policy of nothing past your wrists or neck line. Basically when in your dress uniform there shouldn't be any visible ink. Beyond that though I don't see a point to them changing the rule on it. There is a potential of losing a lot of good soldiers due to that rule.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I agree with the widespread part but I disagree with the accepted part.

I plan to meet my maker with the same un-inked body (albeit much bigger) as the one given to me at birth.

I do plan to leave the same way I came into this world: naked, wet and covered in someone else's blood.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

It took six years to get benefits from the VA but it was nice to get six years of back pay.The VA Hosp in denver just plain sucked , Down hereits a brand new clinic and easy to get service, Got bit by a spider on the leg , and being treated for it (Pills)

And there is nothing wrong with that view. It is yours and you're entitled to it. What's wrong is forcing that view on others.

I am personally against homosexuality, I think it's wrong and goes against humanity. That's my belief, but I'm not going to hold it against one of my soldiers if he/she is gay.

What is ironic about this whole tattoo policy is the fact that they're saying its ok for 2 male soldiers to walk around holding hands but its not ok for a soldier to have a tattoo on his/her forearm. A location that isn't visible in the duty uniform. How are they going to be "modern" and open minded about one thing and then so "old fashioned" and close minded about another.

Are you going to say that my tattoos inhibit my ability to perform my job and be a professional?

I wholeheartedly agree!

Not me! I would never intentionally offend a man of your strength.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Let understand this...

You actually expect the Military to be logical?

It wasn't for the 8 years I put in, why should they change now?

The tattoo policy goes back for a very long time. In the past, they were only "tolerated" when on either the chest or the back. I seem to remember the charge was "destruction of Government property" for getting a Tattoo..

But then, when I was in, if you got sun burn that adversely affected your job you could be brought up on charges...

Article 15 type of thing.

Military, Logic. An oxymoron if ever there was one...

The Colorado BS thread

I've been in for 12 years now and my entire career the rule on tattoos has been nothing past the wrist or above the neck line on your shirt. For a short time they allowed people with tattoos in those areas to still join with a waiver. Now suddenly they're looking to go backwards on the tattoo policy.

In the end it won't effect me, and I'll continue adding to me ink on both my forearms and legs without any real worry. My units leadership isn't going to go through the effort of documenting soldier's tattoos and then inspecting for new ones. I for one will not do any such thing for the soldiers in my section. I see this policy being handled at the lowest level and any NCO worth his rank will handle things in a manner to best take care of his soldiers.
