Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

He was just a lil scary with it. Apparently has been wheeling a XJ for a while but never had anything more than 32's and stock everything else. no lockers no nothing. Will be interesting to see what happens to it. The body isnt like anyone cares about it. but hopefully he can still part it out once he rolls/scares himself

Re: The Colorado BS thread

What did you end up gettin for the whole thing? Hopefully what the axles were worth at least. I woulda loved to buy it and toss a motor in it.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

You did sell the winch too right? And he's gonna take it on carnage without a winch? Uh oh....that has bad news written all over it

The problem is all inside your head
She said to me
The answer is easy if you
Take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle
To be free
There must be fifty ways
To leave your lover

She said it's really not my habit
To intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning
Won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself
At the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways
To leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

[CHORUS:]
You Just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

She said it grieves me so
To see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do
To make you smile again
I said I appreciate that
And would you please explain
About the fifty ways

She said why don't we both
Just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning
You'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me
And I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways
To leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

Okay I'll bite, how much weight can the two circle cuts in the flat metal withstand?
I have a class three, I don't know what that one is. Have been curious about rear recovery point when I don't have a ball hitch on.

This is why I posted it........... stupid to put a hook held on by grade 5 (at best) bolts when all you gotta do is put the end of the strap into the receiver and pin it in with the hitch pin...... nothing more solid than that.

Things like this are kinda pointless unless the hitch pin is hard to get to.......

Straps with hooks are dangerous and actually, officially not recommended to be included in the trail recovery gear mentioned in our club's event rules.

http://www.naxja.org/html/bylaws.htm

Equipment list:

Visibly charged fire extinguisher (BC or ABC)
First aid kit
Adequate spare tire, jack and lug wrench
Safety belts for driver and any current passenger
Adequate attachment points in the front and rear of the vehicle:
Acceptable forms of attachment points: (All Items must be mounted in a manner to provide adequate strength and integrity)
Tow hooks of OEM or greater integrity
D-Rings
Shackle/Clevis
20ft 10,000lb snatch strap without any metal hooks
Secured battery (no bungee cords)

Get rid of that metal hook strap pronto. Or at least cut the hooks off.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Agreed. I've seen what even just a broken strap (albeit a wet one) can do, with no metal attached. Punched a fist sized hole through the hatch of a friend's XJ when her strap broke while pulling someone out of a mud hole.
